Lock-Up on "Save as WAV"

Specs:
New MTU Built System, XP Pro, Krystal, External SB card, ME Vers. 5.5, twin 80 gig drives

Getting intermittant but frequent lock-ups when saving as wav. When progress meter reaches 100% it locks. Control-Alt-Delete won't work. Must turn off computer to reboot.

Any suggestions? Thanks.
