First conviction karaoke piracy

I got these links from harryoke at myspace (he's also an MTU customer)

If you bought karaoke from this woman off ebay or other sources the Feds now have your name and address and may be looking for you

Just goes to show you be careful where you buy your materials. If it isn't on an original labeled CD from the producer it is suspect.

Also, aside from being careful where you buy your material, don't be stupid enough to think that if you bought a pre-loaded hard drive off of ebay that you have a legal library.
But there were other cases similar to this in the early stage of SPIN as well. The above case is about selling illegal hard drives - just as bad as multirigging and making multiple copies for sale (as in the SPIN case).
Still waiting to see the first case about kj using the computer for the player instead of the discs they bought in a 1:1 ratio.

Never bought from her, and glad I didn't. We have a guy in Mich that offered me a 250gb hard drive with 18000 KJ tracks and 23000 DJ tracks with the software already to go. $1500 I passed. I saw his equiptment in use and was impressed but he offered it too quick and figure there is a few that took him up on it. Same fella has CAVS units in a bunch of his shows.

I've seen a lot of CAVS with the preloaded 18,000 tracks and some of these folks don't even own a disc. From what I've heard CAVS is in Korea, and have recently paid fees to market the units built after a certain date.

Hey All,
Just checked my CDGs and found at least half a dozen Star Music ones.
Never bought from this lady, they were all purchased through legitimate chains that advertise internationally.
Don't know whether these are pirate copies but just goes to show, however vigilant you are, you can still break the law.
Regards from across the pond.

Don't forget, that you need to have "intent", to break the law. If you purchase your music on a pre-loaded hard drive from E-Bay, your intent is obviously to circumvent the law and save money. This is illegal.

But if you purchase your music from legitimate sources, (CD's, CD+G, etc) your intent is not questionable.

Star Music, if a CDG manufacturer, is a legit business selling a legit product...we all have their CDGs. The Star Music in question is simply a karaoke host who is duplicating their library to sell on the black market. They are not the same company.

Are they original discs with "Star Music" or are they "Star Discs"? Star disc is a name of a legit cdg manu, Star Music is the name of this company selling illegal drives - not the same.
What are the manu numbers on those discs?

<edit> ah I see Harry already responded!
