Paul Initializing book Id slow
I am having a problem when I first open Hoster it takes a very long time for the initializing book Id it to run. When I first started using windows 10 the initializing book Id would run slow, the one day it just started zipping thru, then windows 10 crashed and I had to remove windows 10 and reinst it. Now the initializing book Id just creeps across.

Re: Paul Initializing book Id slow
If you don’t use the Add Singers & Songs Book Id to search for songs click on the Book ID button to change it to Brand and leave it at that then It won’t run that initializing Book Id anymore.
You will still be able to search via Book Id in the search dialog.

Re: Paul Initializing book Id slow
Open Hoster let it run the initializing book ids. Once finished click the book id button so that it changes to Brand, the Brand window should now show highlighted with a particular brand showing. Do nothing else but close Hoster.
Now re start Hoster, is it still initializing Book Ids ? Entering a book id using the search will produce a long list but the numbers in that list should not be exactly the same they should list from lowest to highest. A true book id includes the track number (01 to 99) if you are searching for a three digit book id example 201 it will list everything that has those 3 numbers in it like 1201, 2010 to 2019 the list is too long to print but the track 201 will show at the top of the list. If you enter five digit track numbers that list should either return just that id or a lot less than a 3 digit number. Which ever they should not list exact the same numbers and be in highest to lowest order. You could lesson the amount of returned items by unselecting Audio And Video in the type filters. If you mainly search using Book Id then you would be better off leaving the Book Id initializing active as that will produce just that one exact id immediately. The time it takes is relative to the amount of songs you have. I only have 28,000 including audio and videos and with that many it only takes about 10 seconds. One thing you could try might speed things up. Open Import Songs/Repair Database. See how you get on with that. If you post back remind me which version of Hoster your running.

Re: Paul Initializing book Id slow
That was something that was added after your version, came in about 5.50 I dont expect it would have helped in your particular problem, just thought it worth a try.
Other than that is Hoster opening without running the initalizing Book id\'s? The latest version of Hoster does not display that progress window but instead shows a balloon message telling you its initalizing and is slightly quicker at doing so, just to let you know.

Re: Paul Initializing book Id slow
No luck Roy. I took out Book ID and Disc Id, shut down Hoster and restarted, same thing no difference what so ever.
I an having a separate issue. When I an in my playlist and playing a song and go to the next song that I want to play and highlight it, when the current playing song ends the song that I had highlighted changes to some random song. do you have any thought? My Hoster is acting very badly. |

Re: Paul Initializing book Id slow
I think you are referring to taking out the Book Id in the search dialog.
I’m talking about the Book id button on the main page. I attach a screen shot to better show the button. Your other problem, I didn’t think you could ever select the next song in the playlist prior to the playing song ending, unless you press the play button before the song ended. You should be able to select the next song after the previous song ends. The playlist reacts different depending on your Playlist settings. In the playlist settings there are 4 tick boxes at the bottom, if you have the third box ticked “Run your show as a Rotation” then the next singer is decided for you and shows highlighted as Next in the playlist. It runs in order of the list in the Rotation Column. When using that method you would drag and drop singers in the Rotation list to change their order of play not the playlist.

Re: Paul Initializing book Id slow
Hey Roy, Thanks, with the help of your screen shot I did what you said and it worked Thank you.
With my second issue: before I could be playing one song and highlight the next song that I wanted to play and when The song I was playing would end the the one that I had highlighted would stay there but now (the highlighted area) jumps to the the song right after the one I had just played? |

Re: Paul Initializing book Id slow
Try this: Open the playlist settings and make sure you have the box ticked for keep selected songs selected in manuel mode.
I don’t think it will work if you have Run your show as a rotation so make sure that’s not ticked. I attach another screen shot.

Re: Paul Initializing book Id slow
What I would do now if your happy the way it’s working now is from the Help menu select Backup/Restore and create a backup on an external device so that you can always restore to those settings.
