Sometimes the "booster" boosts the lines and waves as well.

Check the connections, are they old? Get the best quality conductors as well. I had my place re-solder all their video and s-video connections and lines went away. Got high quality 50 ft. cable too.

No more problems. However, when I got a booster, lines and waves are what got boosted(amplified). If you have other video equipment attached, projectors, etc. they kind of leak in interference as well.

Along with Bryant's answer make sure your video cables are not wrapped up or running along side any power cables. The 60Hz wave of the power line can transfer to your signal line.

Sometimes those y connectors get a little funky too, make sure their tight, try to get the best quality (although I think all of them are simple cheepo's gennerally constructed for audio). I got a new one once and it cleared up. May wanna try that too.

PS I do a lot of Y'ing from different laptops projectors and monitors.

Ah, good, because those y-connectors almost always go bad in a short time (not sure why, though). A good solid gold end deal did the trick I see. I haven't even found those yet. I'll be pickin' up some tonight, though.

Y-connectors don't go bad. There's no moving parts. They lose the ability to make a good connection due to oxidization.

Most electronic supply houses sell a product made by MG Chemicals called SUPER CONTACT CLEANER. I'm sure there must be other brands.

Comes in a 4 1/2 or 5 0z spray can for under $10.00. Amazing what it and a q-tip will do,, and a can will last a long, long time.

Stuff like this came out way back when t.v. tuners were mechanical and needed frequent cleaning. I use it to keep a 26 year old amp running smooth, and for all audio, video, tv, vcr, dvd, pc, telephone, and dsl connections.

Don't know if Radio Shack has anything like it or not. I use an electronics supply house.

Isn't that the same as "going bad" i.e., not working properly. I didn't say they moved, did I. I think maybe a lot of pulling them on and off and bending them back and forth putting them back in there little pouches or whatever may even be considered movement. Sheesh!

In the norm, things that go 'bad' are no longer usable, not just dirty.

You said you didn't know why they went "bad". I offered a plausible explanation. I have Y connectors that have been in service for years, and they require occassional cleaning.

Go ahead, beat it to death, as usual.
