DJ disc set question???

Guys and Gals,
I hope to pick your brain on some good cd's to use for DJ only music. My situation is that most of my Karaoke folks leave this particular club before midnight and a younger crowd filters in. Some want to sing, and they do get to do that, but a lot more just want to dance. Anyway, on to the question: I want to know of a cd set or several cd sets that have a lot of the older stuff, YMCA, disco stuff, old funk, Prince, etc. and stuff like that that I can buy without having to pick up a cd for only 1 or 2 songs (kind of like I have to do for Karaoke cd's at times) ha! Please advise if you have a good set or know of one or multiple....much thanks to all of you here at MTU! This is really a great place to find info, and thanks.

Digital Cable Solution

I am definitely a "gonnabe" when it comes to KJing and DJing. I found a site where the people constructed a list of 100 (maybe 500) most needed songs, with an offer to deliver it to someone in the mp3 format. (for a price) (Legal????) When I get home I will try to look up the address of the site.

Something else to consider.

What if someone wanted to cater to a certain style? There are digital cable stations that play certain styles of music. I have thought that on a vhs cassette I could get around 6-8 hours of cd quality (close) music in a certain style. Has anyone used vhs tapes? If one can show a videotaped movie, can one present videotaped music??

Post Try PromoOnly.com

PromoOnly.com provides up to date discs each month in several genres. I believe they also sell a Platinum Package that puts together a group of really popular songs over a period of time. They also have music videos on DVD. The Party one has about 3 hours of some of the all time best songs for only $40.

bad boyz sound track/shake that tailfeather tried this at a party recently- nobody on the floor and a couple of people requested the song.

every new hip hop song I played had the same reaction after thre tries I went back to the old disco r even motown and floor space became almost unfindable and stayed that way for the rest of the party. when it came time to close the person that hired me told me to play another song like the ones that had the floor cleared and I did. worked like a charm. but those songs kevin suggested should work for that particular crowd.

what was the venue i thought this was for a twenty or thirty something ? normally we mix it up . we are from northern MI
old time rock to hip hop seem to be the format here,.also it depends on the order and the timing in which it is played.
thanks for the reply
