Bad graphics when uploading backup disks

5 years ago I bought Microstudio & made copies of many of my disks because they were already several years old. However, I continued to use the originals because my old Pioneer karaoke player wouldn't read most CDR's. When I purchased a new DVD/CDG player, of course it had no trouble reading CDR's, so I played them so as to preserve my original collection.
Unfortunately, my original CDGs were so scratched that many would not upload into Hoster, so I have had no choice but to upload my backup copies. Even though my copies play perfectly in my DVD/CDG player, when I upload them into Hoster, the graphics are so bad that they are unreadable.
I have the latest Plextor and have tried everything. Version 3.03 does a better job reading some of my copies, but many still will have BAD graphics.
Will this be addressed in the next Hoster version?
Also, when will the new version be out? The site says it was supposed to be available today, May 30, 2006.

Smile Update firmware for better graphics!

OOPS, I didn't mean to post twice. How do I remove the duplicate?

I did a lot of research here and at Plextor. I updated the firmware for my PX-716UF even though it was dated Oct2005 and I just bought it in February. I have since re-uploaded one of my back-up disks that I tried 3 times before and got un-readable graphics. Now, even though there are some dots, the words can be read.

We are close to releasing 3.310, but HP drives are still giving us headaches with bad graphics. We may wait a few more days, but otherwise so far it looks good to go. Beta 9 was available for testing around 9PM last night, so we still need to hear from about half our beta testers.

On your problem, we added a Disc Speed control into the Import CD Tracks screen. It reads the drive's speeds so you can select a slower one. At slower speeds, warped media import fewer "snowflakes" in the graphics. We have seen remarkeable improvements with Chartbutster original discs. Thus, I think 3.310 will help you.

Right now you can use Microstudio at a slower speed to import BIN files. Then, take them to Hoster and import to KMAs in the Import Hard Drive Files screen. The error detection/correction code we now use is software based, versus hardware that older CDG capable drives used, and sometimes it is not as good. If the drive has hardware error correction, 3.310 automatically detects and uses it for the best possible import.

The advantage is that MANY more drives are now useable for CDG work. The problem is today only Plextor drives use hardware decode, which forced us to go to the software decode/correction code.

I was wondering if you remember what CDR media manufacturer you used with your backups made years ago? It would be interesting to know.

Anxious

Thanks for the suggestion to upload with Microstudio first and then convert. When I first got Microstudio I uploaded into CDG format and of course usedup most of my old 40GIG harddrive on my ME in no time, which is why I went to making backup copies. I used several different brands, sometimes buying whatever was the cheapest at the time, instead of buying only what was on your list of recommended brands! I used Sony, Imitation, Harmony & Maxell. But I always burned at 1x speed. I do remember that I always had trouble with Memorex.

Any chance 3.1 will be available this week? Sure would like to add a list of my new disks for my Friday night show.

Hoster 3.310 is now released.

You can get it by going into your Store account, if you have Hoster 3.303.
