How many gigs a month are you performing at this time?

Keeping in mind that not all gigs are weekly, some gigs are random calls, some average one a month at certain places, and some are twice a month.

And assuming precisely 4 weeks in a month, how many Karaoke gigs do you host in one months time.

Well don't know if 1 club 7 nights would classify as 1 or more than 24?

Lonnie:
Are you saying you host nightly karaoke shows every night of the week? Karaoke 7 nights a week, wow, what club is this?

Just curious?

Thunderbird Lounge in Tacoma. Been working 7 nights since 94. Well ok, in all fairness, my company is there 7 nights since 94, I only work 4 of the 7 - but need to be on call any night just in case.

Ahhh, I see, the poll is really asking about you "alone", in person, no g/f, no subs, no associates considered.

I guess, in essence then, your poll result should have been 4 times 4 =16. Sorry for my unclearn question.

Well ok, then! lol.
Ah this poll don't allow you to change either.

It also depends on the other host, sometimes I can work as much as 6 days for a month at a time - depends on if my other hosts' band is playing or not. But as a rule, 4 nights a week.

Gee I guess that means I can't vote since there is no 0. I take care of the equipment, but my wife or sister-in-law do the hosting. I just try to keep them out of trouble.

At the moment I'm only 5 days a week. I'm working on filling the other 2.

I guess I'm a 0 too. I don't do anything but help set up the stuff and make sure it works before starting to drink, and then crawling home.

sometimes once a month, and sometimes 4 times a month. usually the lesser.

I used to do it 6 nights a week, but that was between jobs. With a 50 hour week, I can't do more.

6 days a week contracted in clubs with the seventh day open for weddings and private parties...so 7 days a week unless I can take a Saturday off.

Work a different club each night, except for my We-Th gig which is 2 days in a row.

AND I commute...an average of 80 miles a night.

Wow, I hate to boast the fact again that my longest commute to any one of my three different regular places is less than a mile away from home, and they are all within a half mile of each other, and that I rarely ever have to lug any equipment other than the shuttle. In fact one gig one night, I lost a video card after the first hour, put one audio song on, went home, grabbed the backup, came back, hooked it up; all before the time that one song was over. And most weddings I do are usually at those same places, in the afternoon. I remember a time when I had two weddings at two different places on the same day, one was 11-4; the other 3 to 8, believe it or not there was plenty of time to get both in, then gig that night from 8-12. Then home in bed asleep before 12:30, ran a marathon the next morning from 9 to 12. This situation has occured more than one time too.

You are lucky to be working as close to home as you do. That would be a great perk. I wouldnt know what to do with myself if I only had a 5-10 minute commute, LOL!

Yesterday marked my 8th anniversary in business. That is a lot of mileage under the belt!!

I could work closer, but I drive to where the money is. I have my eyes open in my immediate area in the event I get an opening.

One downside is that the commute dictates that I have a large enough vehicle to carry redundant gear. I always wonder how guys can show up in small cars and carry a real pro PA and spare stuff, LOL! I drive a full size Chevy Van so everything I need is just a footstep away when the glitch happens.

I see. How much can you get on a weeknight in a bar for 4 hours of karaoke, Harry?

Doing about two nights a week basically. But I count one spot as just one even though I do two nights a week. Man this stuff gets tougher every year and heavier too! I've become a night owl and booze hound. Only in America. God Bless this wonderful place we call home. Oh, and also my brother and partner who doesn't drink and always drives...
