Question Default Project Folder

WHEN I START MY MICROSTUDIO V2.303 A WINDOW OPENS THAT SAYS "DEFAULT PROJECT FOLDER CREATION FAILED". THEN THE PROGRAM OPENS , AND SEEMS TO WORK FINE, UNTIL I TRY TO WRITE A CD. THE CD APPEARS TO WRITE, BUT, WHEN IT'S FINISHED, I CANNOT PLAY IT WITH MICROSTUDIO OR ANYTHING ELSE.
I AM USING WINDOWS MILLINIUM.
THE PROGRAM WORKED FINE FOR A WHILE. THEN ONE DAY IT CHANGED MY DISPLY MODE TO THE LARGE FORMATT, SO ALL I COULD SEE WAS ABOUT 1/8TH OF THE DESKTOP. I WAS ABLE TO RESET THE COMPUTER TO A PREVIOUS CONFIGURATION TO FIX THAT. BUT , WHEN I DID THE MICROSTUDIO QUIT WORKING.

This is a problem that is in version 2.303. Please make sure that you have DirectX 8.0 installed and your Video card drivers are up to date and support DirectX 8.0.

You also should make sure that your Folder in the "Select Folder" button within Microstudio, actually does exist. This could be the reason that you are getting this error message when you first open Microstudio.

thanks for your quick response .
the folder c:/songlist exists and has cdg files in it.
i have a direct x file but i can't tell what version it is. I am pretty sure I loaded direct x 8 into the machine when I upgraded from the earlier version of micro studio.
I was going to uninstall this version of microstudio, but when I clicked on the uninstall program it wasn't able to find a program to open it.
what do you think should I delete this one and upgrade or should I delete it and downgrade?

I would say that if it is not showing up under Add/Remove programs, then something is not correct. What I would do is reinstall the software to the same location that you had it installed and see what that does.

If you do the following you can figure out what version of DirectX you have.

1. Click the Start Menu and the Run command
2. Type in DXDIAG and click the OK Button
3. This will open the DirectX DIAGnostic program that will gather and show your computer data
4. On the System page (Opening page) look at the bottom of teh information given. There should be a line that shows DirectX Version: DirectX 8.0 (4.08.00.0400) if DirectX 8.0 is installed.
5. If this is not what shows then you can download a free upgrade from Microsoft at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...ReleaseID=27741

BRYAN,
I HAVE REMOVED THE PROGRAM AND RE-INSTALLED IT.
I HAVE DIRECT X 8 AND I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING THAT I CAN THINK OF TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
IF I UPGRADE TO THE NEW PROGRAM, WILL I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM?
IS THERE AN UPGRADE PRICE FOR THE NEW PROGRAM OR DO I JUST BUY THE NEW ONE?
I HAVE WINDOWS ME OPERATING SYSTEM I HAVE 256 MEGS OF RAM AND AN 8 GIG H.D.
PLEASE ADVISE
