waveopen error

I am receiving a "waveInOpen:Invalid device Identifier" message when I run a song & "waveinReset:Invalid handle" when I stop the song. Any ideas how to stop this happening.

Thanks

Haven't seen or heard of this one. How about some more information so we can help you track down the problem?
Which Version of Microstudio?
Which operating system (2000, XP or Vista)?
Is you O/S up to date? (This would be done from Microsoft Updates web page, using the Custom Update not the Express.)

Is this happening in Microstudio, or are you trying to play a file with Windows Media Player?

Also where did you get the track from?

Right click on the FILE, click on PROPERTIES, then SUMMARY, and tell us everything it says regarding:

BIT RATE...

AUDIO SAMPLE SIZE...

CHANNELS...

AUDIO SAMPLE RATE...

AUDIO FORMAT...

more info

Thanks for quick response . The tracks ran perfectly when I tried them, originally, on my desktop PC, using XP. They were ripped from CDG with the intention of running karaoke from a laptop.

The problem has arisen since I bought a new laptop, using Vista. Could this be a problem with the soundcard (Realtek High Definition Audio)? The machine is a PACKARD BELL EasyNote EasyNote MZ36-T026, with onboard sound. It doesn't have a recording function on the computer (although there is a mic input.

Why would you rip a .WAV track from a cdg file to play it as Karaoke instead of importing the entire CDG track to the laptop, or aren't we talking about wave files?

Are we talking about CDG tracks that are giving these type error messages...

"waveInOpen:Invalid device Identifier
waveinReset:Invalid handle"

...possibly indicating there is something wrong with the audio portion of the CDG track?

I ripped the files using Microstudio - i.e. as .bin files. As I said previously, the tracks play OK on my desktop, but not on the laptop. I don't think that the problem is with the tracks. It looks as if Microstudio is trying to initiate a wavein command - possibly for recording - & is failing. The track plays once I have closed the message, but I don't want to have to do that for every track.

I'd guess you have analyzed it correctly, or Vista is causing a problem.

Sorry I let the wave portion of the error message cause me to erroniously focus me on a .wav file problem...they call that tunnel vision

Suggest you put in a support ticket, and clearly state the problem. Also give them as much info regarding your system as possible.

Thanks for your help - I've just solved the problem! Installed a programme which contains a wav editor & now do not get the error message!

Thanks again

Must have been missing a dll file for audio, but can't imagine that it should since WMP should load that initially.

I am running Microstudio 4.001 under Vista and I started to get the same dialog box back when I tried to add a file to the playlist. It is not a major problem because the software works just fine.

Check to see if you have the latest Media Player (11 I think?) Also you might ask yingtong what wave editor he installed.

I wonder if this is common to Vista & 4.005? I just installed on my new Vista machine & am now getting the same errors. Close the error box & the song plays fine. Song over, the next error box pops up. Have current updates & Media Player 11.

waveopen error

The programme that I installed, which seemed to cure this problem, was WaveLab Lite which comes with Cubasis. Whether any other wav editor would work I don't know.

We finally decoded what Microsoft demands (but not clearly) to be Vista compliant. Microstudio 4.006 has the latest changes. In essence, Windows Vista will NOT allow you to have any working/editable files (such as a Playlist in Microstudio) in the C:\Program Files\... path. All editable files must now be in C:\Documents and Settings\... path. When you install 4.006, we will automatically MOVE all your working/editable files to the correct path.

It's not as easy to find files related to any MTU or any other vendor's Application programs, such as Microstudio, Hoster, Vogone, etc. However, look at it on the positive side... you'll be Vista Compatible.

Exclamation problem still not fixed

I have this same problem with Vista 32-bit and Microstudio 4.006a. Windows is completely up-to-date, hardware's up-to-date, UAC is off....what's going on???? BTW, I submitted a support ticket, but haven't received a response yet, so I thought I'd post here.

Posting in multiple threads does not get you an answer any faster and posting in a very old thread such as this one is definately not going to help you since the information in here is essentially out of date.
