Exclamation Project Compatibility from V2.0 through V5.3

Projects created under MicroEditor Versions 2.0 to 2.7b are upward compatible with MicroEditor Versions 5.0 to 5.3. Projects created under Version 5.3 are downward compatible to 5.1b and lower only if the following conditions are met:
[UL]
[LI]MicroEditor 5.1 and higher automatically store the project mix file in an older format with a 64KB buffer limit if none of the limitations below are exceeded. However, the project will automatically extend beyond this limit whenever required, then storing in a new project format. MicroCD 2.2 and higher will process the new project format, but Version 2.1x and lower will not. The Microeditor Split Project command can be used to create smaller projects that save under the old format if all criteria are met.

[LI]The number of segments, zones or flags in the Project each do not exceed 2,048. In V5.1a and higher each of these can be up to 32,767. The Split Project command can be used to overcome this.

[LI]Any one of the CLIST, PLIST and TLIST in the project mix file must not have exceeded 65,536 count. The Split Project command can overcome this. To determine this, open the project and press the F12 function key. This copies the Project Command List to the Windows clipboard and it can then paste into Notepad or Wordpad for viewing.

[LI]Long filenames are not used and the 8.3 DOS filename format is followed.

[LI]No Combined Segments exist (do not use the Combine Group Segments command)

[LI]Projects with 3 digit Group numbers in segments are downward compatible with versions V5.1a to 2.6. However, V2.5 only supported 2 digit numbers and lower versions did not support group numbers at all. V2.4 and lower do not support group numbers at all.
[/UL]
[LI] Projects with 24-bit resoluton or with 24-bit sound files are NOT downward compatible. However, 16-bit projects are if they do not contain segments from 24-bit sound files.
