vga to s-video How do I test my card?

I bought a new laptop. Unlike my previous one, which actually belonged to the company I work for, there is no s-video output. Either in tv's that take s-video or with my rf converter which takes s-video I have had success doing karaoke from my computer on tv (not lcd)

There are little converter cables but the warning is that my video card must have tv out from vga. How do I test for that or what do I look for?

There are converter boxes that will take VGA out and send it to either computer monitors or TV (RCA or S-video). I know a number of users have them. I am sure some of them will list what they have so you can get one.
What laptop did you get?

Probably I will not be able to go with the "not so pricey" because my laptop probably isn't the kind that works with the cable indicated. My question was about how to test for that, but I appreciate the suggestions for $20-$30 ish converters.

I found http://www.monoprice.com/products/cart.asp
I think I'm going to go with them.

Thanks

i am not really sure or understand what your question is, are you asking if your laptop is dual display capable, or are you asking how to ? i'm not sure how to test it, but you can check if the laptop is capable of dual display, click on an empty space on your monitor click on properties, desplay , setting and see if there is a 1 &2 monitor displayed on the box...if not then the laptop is not capable of dual display, but i'm pretty sure it is ,if its brand new , i checked on the link you have on your responsed, i didn't see anything that you can use, check the link i posted, i'm pretty sure that will work, caused my old laptop didnt have a video out except for the vga..

If you do a "vga converter" search you will find some $2-$7 cables that seem like a dream come true. However there is a caviat about the video card having "TV-Out" capablilty. Otherwise people will be wasting their $2-$7 and their time. I have vista on this new computer (don't even have a "display" icon on the control panel) and things are a little unfamiliar to me. I was hoping for some help.

A lot of the customer reviews (on Amazon, etc.) said the little cable didn't work for them and I saw where someone says that it is really obvious if the card has the capability so I assumed that mine didn't and I bought the $26 converter box.
