Deleting a large program from computer?

Dale,
perhaps you can (or some computer-expert guy) help me on this one:
I've got one of those gamer type programs that take up 10 gB of the 40 gB on this machine. There is no where (online website or in folder or in the game itself) to be found an "unistall" file for this program.

What's the best and safest way to get all or most of the program contents deleted. I am aware that deleting the game folder (10 gB) will not get rid of everything as there will always be remnants left around somewhere.

Is my thinking correct in saying that I could delete the game folder, then do a regClean from a regclean program.
Or is it safe to just delete the registry folder (after deleting the program folder) for the game in the registry.
