external HD - how to rename it to a different letter

i have an internal plextor on desk top and hoster, i use this to import cdgs to external harddrive. the problem, when i hook-up extrnal HD to lap top the HD is not the same drive letter or name, thus hoster says the song path is incorrect and will not load. example on desk top drive is e:, but when installed on lap top the drive is D:. this is a usb external HD. any solution to this? i am not a computer expert. Change Drive Letter

You can change the drive letter instead of rebuilding the song database every time you move from the PC to the laptop. It is easy... Here are the instructions:

Right click on "My Computer"

Select "Manage"

In the window shown select "Disk Management"

Right click on the removable drive and select "Change Drive letter and Paths..."

In the window that pops up select the drive and click on "Change"

In the window that pops up leave the "Assign the following drive letter:" check and use the scroll window to the right to select the drive letter you wish this external drive to have. If the drive letter you want does not show up then it is already in use with another drive.

I hope this helps.

Mike
