XP - 2.0ghz Intel - 160gb HD - 1gig ram - DVD burner reads CD+G's $289 Wal-Mart 6/22

Yesterday I bought a new Emachine (Gateway) with XP on it from Wal-Mart for $289, regular price.

Windows XP Home - 2.0ghz Intel - 160gb HD - 1gig ram - DVD burner reads CD+G's (no monitor)

I'm going to get a pci duel video card and make the Emachine my Florida backup computer.

Too good a deal for me to pass up.

Jim

Yea, Lonnie,
I remember paying $300 for an 8gb SCSI hard drive back in the day. WOW, computers are so afordable right now. The best thing about this deal is IT USES WINDOWS XP which we all know is being phased out. Get um' while you can!

I went back to Wal-Mart before I laid down this morning to rest and got a PCI dual video card for $89.88.

$289 for the computer

$89 for the PCI dual video card

$229 for Hoster Pro

For a hair over $600 anybody can have a Professional Karaoke Hosting rig. I paid $1200.00 for a Packard Bell P100 (lightning fast ) with no dual video card and no Hoster program years ago. The times they are a changin'.

I was looking a 1TB hard drives about 2 years ago & those were still going for $5-600 on sale. Now they are almost as cheap as what I paid for a 60GB in '03 - and that was a HUGE drive then lol.

It's got to be a PCI video card to work in these machines. I ran into the same problem with my Nvidia 5200. My Dell had no slot for it. Thank GOD I had a machine that still had a the right slot.

I have two pro sound cards that I paid $600 a piece for, and I can no longer use them because they need a 16 bit slot.

Life goes on.

I bought the computer on September 22, 2008. (9/22 not 6/22)

Typo

Hell it would cost more to ship than it can be bought new. I found it online for $39. I paid almost $200 for it last year.

If anyone wants it, send me the shipping cost!

Follow Up

After installing all window updates, WMP 11, the PCI dual video card, moving my KMA files and installing Hoster 4.04 all works very well.

The only issue I had was during the file transfer from my external hard . While the external drive is runnng, I can hear the activity as noise comming through the speakers. Since the hard drive was big enough to hold all of my KMA's and my MP3's I won't be using the external drive so it's not a problem for me. One day I'll go the Intel web site and look for an update.

I learned something doing this upgrade install on a new machine. I installed 3.321a on the machine then installed 4.04. When I opened 4.04 nothing happened and I know the databse should rebuild and the HDZIP conversion should run. I knew at that point that I had to unistall 4.04, reinstall 3.321a then rebuild the databse in 3.321a. After doing this, I upgraded to Hoster 4.04 and it rebuilt the database automaticaly and ran the conversion with no problems.

A great price on a great little machine with XP.

Jim, Why do you suppose this happened in the first place. Was it simply a "bad" first 4.04 install for some reason.

It happened because I used an upgrade RegCode and Installed 4.04 with no database files for it to read.
