Yes. Change your extensions from .cdg to .bin or .bin to .cdg they are the same format. Actually you will be better off setting them all to .bin as this is what Microstudio will continue to use.

There are times when we all have to stop what we are doing, and see what the rest of the world is doing.

If they are illegal or immoral, we at MTU choose to not follow. If there is confusion, we need to see how to prevent increasing confusion.

The BIN format has been used by a number of companies to represent any type of file, from a complete disc image, to a single audio or a karaoke track. Clearly, there was a great potential for confusion. Thus, MTU named our Karaoke imported files, that hold the identical format as a track stored on a Karaoke CDG disc... CDG.

When others evolved the MP3+G (G being a .cdg file with only the lyrics), confusion started. Since this format was used to illegally distribute songs over the Internet, MTU refused to support it. We continued to use our .CDG format extension.

However, today, there are many honest users who have imported their Karaoke discs as MP3+G files, and even zip them together. Furthermore, since MTU now supports MP3+G and ZIP files, that both contain .CDG format files with lyrics only, we are now creating confusion for OUR CUSTOMERS. It is thus easier for us to stop importing our old .CDG format (i.e. never create them again with any of our newer products), and from here on recognize that the MP3+CDG files (or WMA+CDG, or WAV+CDG, etc.) are the majority in the marketplace today.

MTU products will continue to recognize our older .CDG format with audio and lyrics to play, process or write them to discs, but we won't create any more of them. The BIN format is the standard for this today, and many other programs support BIN files.

MTU is the pioneering leader for PC Karaoke since 1996. Today, we must change to insure our clients are walking down the path that is now most trodden by others.

Things change. Those who keep in step remain. Those who are stuck in the mud get buried by the landslides of change.
