Protecting hoster files from theft
Is there a way to protect my hoster files from being copied or access when another dj is assisting me at a gig. My songs are all on my computer, any novice can find hidden folders. Is there any way to safeguard my songs folders? Help!

No there is no way to protect them currently. Hoster files are in KMA format and they won't play in but one other Karaoke program (according to them). How many DJ programs do you know that protect your files? I don't know of any.
Unfortunately in order for Hoster to use the files they cannot be encrypted or locked in anyway that prevents copying. Windows doesn't provide anything that would work either.

I disagree... You can set up an account for the other DJ and setup a profile for your computer and what they can and cannot do, including blocking any copying of files. You can set up their account so they can only use the programs you allow and no other windows functions.

If you are referring to Vista this would require enabling the UAC to set this up and Hoster cannot run correctly with the UAC enabled. XP does not have the capability for normal users to be able to set up individual program use.

The best you can hope for is to slow them down enough that they can't get it done during a show. Then secure your equipment the minute the show is over.

What would you be willing to pay for software encryption of KMA files that would only run on a computer with the correctly installed and registered encryption Security Code?
FYI: We developed encryption technology for Karaoke Bay and Priddis. Regretfully, both went off the market before it could be used on their discs. |

Here is something that you can use to lock USB ports... pay close attention to renaming the key files so XP or Vista doesn't unlock them.
