2.506 will Still not open

After trying the advice of:

Uninstalling MicroStudio, downloading all available Windows Updates, reinstalling Microstudio and Re-Starting the computer the same problem Remains:

After a successful install, when I click on the icon, the hourglass appears like the program is going to open but it never opens and the hourglass just goes away. If I hit control, alt, del, Microstudio shows in the dialog box as being open, yet the program never appears on the main screen.

What should I try next?

Thanks, Brian

Question Windows??

sm58z,

Did you do all of your Windows Update before installing Micro? If you install Micro before doing some of the updates you will have this problem.

I suggest you start all over, uninstall Micro, take ALL your Windows Update than re-install Microstudio.

Which Windows Version are you running?

regards

Will Try This And Send Reply

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I am starting to download all the windows updates as I write this. When they're all downloaded, I will follow your suggestions to the letter and post another reply.

By the way, I'm running Windows 98 2nd Ed.

Thanks greatly,

Brian

Lightbulb Restart After Installation

sm58z,

Keep in mind that you will need to restart after you install Micro 2.5, it's a MUST with Windows 98 & Me.

Good Luck

Thanks for your ideas, but it didn't fix the problem.

Do you have any other things I could try?

Thanks,
Brian

Question Shortcut

Very Strange Problem!

Have you try opening Micro directly from Start, Program & than Microstudio or just with the shortcut on your Desktop?

Perhaps your Shortcut is no good?

Yes, I've tried that.

Yes, I have tried opening Microstudio from
Start > Programs > Microstudio.

I've both double-clicked on the "Microstudio" and also right-clicked and chosen "Open".

What should I try next?

Thanks,
Brian

Question Conflict

sm58z,

The only thing I can see is a conflict somewhere. I would say you have another software running behind that causes this.

When you did your installation, did you disable your antivirus?
You might want to try this option, I would suggest you uninstall again (Sorry), reboot, close ALL Program than re-install.

Try if it works and if not, close ALL Program with ctrl-alt-del and try to run Micro.

Good Luck

Brian,

Haven't seen any mention of which version of DIRECT X you are running. Microstudio requires version 8.0 or later.

To check this click START, RUN, type in DXDIAG and enter. It will tell you near the bottom of the first page that opens which version you have.

If not at least 8.0, go to the Microsoft website and download the latest version. I think it's 9.0.

Take care,

George

also,
if you have something running in your startup that is causing a problem like nero, or cd creator, you scn disable it and find out .

click START, RUN, type in "MSCONFIG" and enter. CLICK THE STARTUP TAB, deselect all, and apply. close. then without restarting try running the program. if that works one of the startup services is a problem. you will have to try one at a time to find the bad one. and eliminate it.
