I recently purchased one of these writers from MTU but should it have had some software in with the writer such as Plextormanager

I have two of these same drives and you DO NOT need the Plextor software to use this drive with Microstudio. In fact, if you only wish to burn music CD's and karaoke CD+G, then you do not need to install Roxio. I've found that Roxio is nothing but a headache.
