Today, our free support is for our supplied workstations. If we don't supply the computer, we can't provide the help for free. It is increasingly difficult to diagnose by phone what is wrong with a non-MTU computer. We simply don't have the time or patience to do this any longer, and won't do it for free.

MTU will no longer quote upgrading an existing computer by installing new parts and making it work. The only logical direction is to replace it with an entirely new computer. You wonder why? The incompatibilities you will encounter are not worth the pain or expense. Every technology sector in PC computers is advancing at break-neck speed. Thus, as an example, your video card of a year past will not work correctly because the Mfgr doesn't support their drivers with the newest Windows you "desire" to install.

At MTU, we just spent over 6 weeks testing and selecting new components to get a stable 800MHz system. The display card we just bought didn't work correctly with its own supplied drivers and Windows 98! How many of you, our clients, want to locate the model number of your display card, go to the Internet, search for the Mfgr's website, then find and download the latest driver for your card? Clients that can do that, don't need MTU's support and should not call us expecting free help when over their head.

A piece of old wisdom definitely applies to upgrading computers today: If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
