Recording WAV files to CD???

Hello....

Do any of you folks know of a way to record analog Cassette tapes to my hard drive for future transfer to CD's without using Roxio's "Spin Doctor"???

"Spin Doctor" works OK in Windows 98 but having a horrible time with it in XP environment!!!

BTW, I did download updates to CD Creator 5.3.1 but still not working well!!!

Thanks in advance,
Jack

Jack,
using Roxio Spin Doctor in XP Home 98SE upgrade with no problems. Have you tried going to Microsoft and downloading Windows XP Service Pack 1 ? Don't know if this will cure the problem or not, but may. Also I got rid of a bunch of problems with some software that was installed when I upgraded, by totally uninstalling, shutting down for a minute or so to clear memory, and re-installing the software. Hope this helps.

Take care,

George

Hey George,

I was told by the techs at Compaq not to install any downloads from MicroSoft at this time!! It seems there are more bugs in the patches than the original XP??!!

I also have heard that Adaptec/Roxio programs are more problematic than others. MTU's software works very well as does Goldenhawk's.....Also, there doesnt seem to be any conflicts there.

I did get the 5.3.1 upgrade to Easy Cd Creator and will try Spin Doc tonight!!

Thanks,
Jack

Jack,

Don't forget that you also have many upgrades and fixes you can download at compaq.com, most people don't think about going there for fixes instead of Micro Soft.

Gotcha, guess the (take two) threw me as well as the need to cull direct cd as I'm using Roxio Easy CD CReator 5 with xp and no problems. I thought it might be something I might need to look at in the future and didn't understand the jargon, that's all.

thanks

Well Folks

As is the case most of the time....OPERATOR ERROR!!!

I was working with "Spin Doc" and found that the volume control for recording (input to the sound card) was turned off!! Switched it on and all is OK now.

Thanks for your responses,
Jack

Audio tape music to wav files

Jack,
I do alot of music setups for local shows. I convert their music to Cakewalk 9 and then use the Mixdown Audio which converts them to Wav or MP3. I can then use KAraoke Home Pro to write the lyrics and then combine words and wav file to Karaoke format. They use the disc for rehearsals only.

Thanks Vince...

I figured out how to make "Spin Doctor" work and it does fine!! I have also made a few tracks with Vogone and put lyrics in.....THAT IS A FULL TIME JOB!!

I'd hate to think I'd have to do that the rest of my life!!!

Tnx Agn,
Jack

To tranfer analog Cassette tapes to your hard drive:

Connect the LINE OUT outputs of your cassete player into the LINE IN inputs of your amplifier and then connect the LINE OUT of your amplifier into the LINE IN input of your sound card.

You will need a connector (available from Radio Shack for under $7) to convert to two connectors from your amplifier into the ONE requiered for your sound card.

When that's done, play the cassetes and use your favorite recording software, you will have beatiful music in your hard drive.

Hope that helps.

Jon
