Just a suggestion for those looking for USB built into the mixers

If you want to control the audio from your computer in a normal channel and use the built into the mixer usb audio interface, look into the Yamaha MG series mixers as they offer this. I think that there are a couple more brands but I have experience with the Yamaha line.

Re: Just a suggestion for those looking for USB built into the mixers

I currently have my Hoster program installed on my laptop with the usb going to a Bose T1 ToneMatch and then to a Bose L1 Compact using a 1/4 plug. It works ok, but the T1 is way more complicated then I need as an amateur who uses it for vocal pleasure singing with friends and to my wife.

So, I was thinking about replacement of the T1 with a Yamaha MG 10XU Mixer. Can I use the same cable from the mixer to the L1, or do I need a different cable. Also, will the MG be better for me then the T1? What are your thoughts?

Thanks,

Wes

I have two L1 Compacts and I use a Peavey PV6 mixer and it works perfect for me. I love the fact that the PV6 had an RCA jack for connecting to your laptop.

And yes, you can use the same 1/4 inch to 1/4 inch cable to connect them!

You can get this mixer with or without special effects!

(Actually I have two of these mixers, one for backup)

kod,

Thanks for the quick response. I\'ll take a look at the Peavey to see if it fits my use.

Thanks again,

Wes

Basically the same cable as you use for a printer that connects via usb

Re: Just a suggestion for those looking for USB built into the mixers

danny _g,

Thanks for the response.

The cable I\'m interested in is the one that goes to the speaker from the mixer, not the one from the laptop to the mixer.

I think the MG uses the XLR for the output to the speaker. In my case, the T1 ToneMatch uses 1/4 speaker out and my L1 uses 1/4 in.

I wasn\'t sure if there was also a 1/4 out for the MG.

You have the choice of XLR or 1/4 inch.

I don’t own or know much about the Bose but if you only have a single unit it will be Mono so as far as I can tell you will have to Pan all the channels left then just use the left output of the mixer to the Bose speaker.

When you use the ToneMatch mixer it sums the stereo for you.

Unless my understanding is wrong this might be a point to consider.

I did not mean to imply that the Yamaha MG 10XU Mixer will not do what you want, I was just using the one I use as an example.

The mixer (Yamaha MG 10XU Mixer) you are looking at will do the same thing if that is the one you prefer.

Actually, I have eight mixers of varying sizes since I run sound for a variety of events and festivals.

The PV6 is my favorite because of its size, when I only need a small mixer.

Roy,

You are correct! I am not familiar with the Bose ToneMatch, so I bow out from here.

However, most of my music is mono and so I can use one of both L1 Compacts if needed.

I also have two Bose S1 Pros (with batteries) and four QSC (2 K8.2 ; 2 K10) speakers.
