1. In V2.303 we removed the code to show any CDROM drive. In V2.304 we made this better than V2.200. Now all CDR and CDROM drives installed in the computer will appear on all Tabs where .wav files can be used. This allows using any drive because all CDR/CDROM drives support .wav Audio CD reading and writing. Whenever CDG mode is selected, if the selected drive(s) can do CDG, no dialog box appears. If the selected drive(s)(both Reading and Writing) are not CDG capable, then a dialog box with Yes and No buttons appears with this text: \"The currently selected drive is not capable of reading or writing CDG format discs. Click Yes to select a CDG capable drive or No to terminate changing from Audio CD format to Karaoke CDG format.\" Clicking Yes, closes the dialog, clears the Reading Drive dropdown list and fills it only with CDG capable devices. When a valid CDG drive is selected, then it checks the Writing drive and repeats procedure. This has already been added into V2.304.

2. CDROMs were no longer supported, due to user confusion by selecting a non-CDG CDROM drive, which could be done in V2.200 and earlier. In V2.304 and higher, CDG-capable CDROM drives again appear and can be selected on all CDG related Tabs. In V2.305 (expected final production release) all CDROM drives will appear. However, when a CDG disc or Play Tab project is selected, if the CDROM drive is not CDG capable, a dialog box will appear with: \"You must select a new CDROM drive that is capable of reading CDG format discs\" with Yes and No buttons. Clicking Yes will clear the Reading Drive field and the dropdown list appears showing only CDG capable drives to select from. This has already been added into V2.304.

3. In V2.200 and earlier multiple CDR drives may or may not appear because the drive CDG status was not checked correctly. Multiple CDR drives now appear and are selectable on all tabs. This is implemented and now works where each drive has a unique name. If there are two or more CDR drives with the identical model and firmware number it will currently only show the first one. This has already been added into V2.304. Version 2.305 version should show all drives even if they have identical drive-firmware names.

4. The Play Tab had MANY problems. in V2.304 we returned to using the same reading-writing-playing code that controls the CDR drive, as we used in V2.200. This code was very stable and caused less problems than any other. Part of the problem is that V2.303 and higher requires DirectX 8.0 due to future upgrades in Microstudio Pro for show hosting. This has already been added into V2.304.

5. A new Check System Configuration command will be added in V2.305 that verifies the DirectX version on the computer and that the 320x240x256 color resolution can be set for playing. execute this command when Microstudio starts up, when the Play Tab is clicked, and when it is executed from the Help menu Check System Configuration command. If everything is satisfactory, Microstudio will simply open. If the DirectX version is lower than 8.0, or if the Video card software drivers will not support the above resolution, then a dialog box appears with messages about what is wrong and how to correct it. This has NOT YET been added into V2.304.

6. V2.303 did not work as expected. A new Play Tab project is now automatically created when switching from Use CDR Drive to Use Hard Drive if any tracks were in the track list box. This has already been added into V2.304.

7. The DirectX error checking done before playing CDG has been upgraded to give instructions what to do if either dialog box appears. We now believe that Microstudio V2.303 and higher will REQUIRE DirectX 8.0. Run DXDIAG.EXE on your computer (follow the directions in http://www.mtu.com/vbulletin/showthr...?threadid=322) to determine your DirectX version. You can download DirectX 8.0 free from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/r...eleaseID=27741. The two dialog boxes that did appear have been upgraded with instructions what to do if you see either of them:
First dialog box title: SetCooperativeLevel Failed. Text message: \"Your video card currently does not support changing the display to full-screen. Check with your computer or video card manufacturer for a new video software driver. Once installed, this problem may go away. If not, you need a new video card.\"
Second dialog box title: SetDisplayMode Failed. Text message: \"Your video card currently does not support 320 by 240 with 256 color resolution. Check with your computer or video card manufacturer for a new video software driver. Once installed, this problem may go away. If not, you need a new video card.\" This has already been added into V2.304.

8. A new featue is being added into dialog boxes. Display Reading and Writing speed fields are being added into the dialog boxes that appear while reading or writing in the Import Tracks Tab, Duplicate Disc Tab, or Custom Assembly Tab (the Play Tab does not show a dialog box while playing. This will be in 2.305. This has NOT YET been added into V2.304.

9. Ejecting the CDR disc from the drive while the Pregap is being written can crash Microeditor. Extra error checking code will be added to try to prevent crashing. We cannot prevent a user from manually ejecting the disc, but we might be able to prevent crashing. However, we are not yet sure we can trap this problem. This has NOT YET been added into V2.304.
