Buzz In Video signal

I have a durabook From MTU and everything is fine except one glitch. I have a bad buzz coming through my system when I attach my s-video to the big screen in the bar...As soon As I remove cable either from tv or computer, the noise disappears. Its not the tv ...tried another big screen in the bar and had the same result. Cable has been replaced 3 times to no avail....Could I have a ground issue in the laptop? Thanks....Rex

Its possible. Radio Shack sells a ground loop eliminator.

And sometimes that works, and sometimes it doesn't.

I ran my system this same way for 8 months prior and only recently has this occurred...possible that the s-video in the durabook has a failed ground? is this covered by MTU if the laptop is less than a year old?...Rex

It takes more than 2 tv's in a single location to decide that it's a computer issue.
It could easily be something new connected to the ground system in the bar and/or the cable/satelite system they use (if that remains physicly attached when you are connected)

Try hooking it up to a TV at home or friends.

It is also possible that you may be running the video cable too close to a power cable. If the cables are too close the signal of the roughly 60Hz AC in the power cable can bleed into the video or audio cables.

Not saying that you are for fact but it wasn't mentioned earlier. So please don't think I'm trying to insult you or anyone.

Always keep power cables at least 8 inches away from video or sound cables. and if they have to cross try to tape them perpendicular to each other so as to minimize chances of signal bleed.

Had a the same problem and it was the s video and the rf modulator

Could even be caused by one of those nice neon COORS signs, or a defective starter in a flourescent fixture. Not saying that's it, but just more possibilities.

I had same thing happen when I went to hoster. using Hp laptop, I ended up running a extension cord to a different plug in. building has some fault ground to one wall.
