PERFECT SINKS WITH KHP and VOGONE

I was called upon to make a CD+G of the song Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory - Sung by Gene Wilder.

I could not find a good midi or just an instrumental of the song.

I got the mp3, clean it up and converted it to a wave file.

Imported it to Vogone 2 and did the vocal cut.....got an almost
98% vocal cut.....so good it was hard to sink the lyrics with the music as there are six instumental breaks in the song.

So here's what I did.

The Vocal and Vocal Cut wave files are identical files in length.

I named the Vocal: Pure Imagination.wav and the
Vocal Cut: Pure Imaginationc.wav

I opened up KHP and imported the lyrics and the Wave file with the Vocal and Placed my lyrics. Since I could hear the singer, I got a PERFECT MATCH WITH THE SINK.

Now before SAVING THE SONG.....I went back and renamed the Vocal Cut to: Pure Imaginationv.wav and the Vocal to:
Pure Imaginationv.wav

Then I clicked on WRITE CDG....

KHP never knew I switched the wav files, never knew what hit it.

A PERFECT MATCH OF THE LYRICS AND INSTRUMENTAL ON THE VOCAL CUT (VOGONE) WAVE FILE.

My client was very please with the results and so was I.

Gosh, why do all this?

All you had to do was click the Add Music button and select your vocal reduced file and then export the song.

This is covered in the manual as a documented design feature. We realized how valuable it would be, and than many songs will not have music in places where you will be singing. Thus, we designed in this feature.

admin.....

Thanks.........I tried it and it works perfectly.

I didn't realize that once you Imported the Lyrics and Music and placed the Lyrics you could then replace the music with a file with another name, before burning. But it works perfectly.

Works well with altered midi files also, not just vogone files. Previously posted in this thread on KHP forum..."THE PERFECT MARRIAGE" KHP and EDIROL SOUND CANVAS

Here's an easy way to make true Karaoke tracks using the Edirol Sound Canvas.

As you change the midi instrumentation take notes on the changes you make. Leave a lead instrument carrying the tune in. Save it to .wav as you normally do.

Now repeat the process, only this time take out the lead instrument. Save it to .wav with a slight change in name.

If you find it necessary to make any changes to the .wav files, with an audio editor(add 10 second silence countdown, for example) make certain to to it exactly the same to both tracks. They need to remain the same length.

Now get everything set up on Kpro as you normally would and import the track with the lead instrument carrying the tune. Get the sweeping and nudging done following the lead instrument, and when the track is as you want it, save as you normally would.

Now import the music again, this time importing the track without the lead instrument. Save it, overwriting the previous version.
You now have it in perfect Karoke with background music only.

Been having a blast with it..

You can also cut a full cd using both sets of tracks, background only for singing, and use the instrumental lead tracks as demo tracks instead of vocal demos. Not really that much difference for someone who needs to learn the tune. Working on one like that now for the other members of my Karaoke club, and it's saving me having to really learn all the arrangements well enough to sweep with only background music.

Only downside is in some cases not having background music interesting enough to carry instrumental breaks. Most of the time, if they repeat the song three times they will use a different instrument for the center one, which you can leave in for your instrumental break.
