Wind Noise
I am trying to use some audio captured by a camcorder from an outside shoot where it was VERY WINDY.
Does anybody have any suggestions for settings to clean this audio up? Thanks, Ron Cole

Wind noise is variable harmonics...
This is one of the hardest types of noise to remove because the frequency content is not constant, but depends on the wind speed which tends to vary.
You will probably need to make several passes with different templates. You may find that if the noise changes significantly over the audio piece, you would have better results to split it into segments, each with "consistent" wind noise (if such a thing is possible ), and run a separate template on each. Then, mix/append them back together in Microeditor. Also try shorter templates, such as 0.25 seconds, and longer ones, such as 1-10 seconds but keep it a true template of only the wind noise, not including any signal you want to preserve. |
