Drives, Program Freezes-Slave Master Issues?

Microstudio won't show the songs and actually freezes up the computer when I try to access CDG discs using my secondary CD-Rom. I've tried other reading and ripping software and they don't have this problem (These other cdg programs are in Demo mode-but it seems they handle the Drive without problem. I do own another cdg ripper which has no problem using the drive)

I have two Plextor Drives installed in my computer. My primary is the newest. It's a DVD burner which I got from MTU a couple of years ago (or more). My Secondary is an old CDRW that I purchased from MTU several years ago.

I know that it's probably the settings, drivers, Hardware Accelaration or something on my computer. That is what I'm trying to correct. What are the things I should be aware of?

Go to plextors website and update the firmware.
firmware is different from drivers.
see if this helps.
make sure you have all windows updates, through custom not express.
you need the .net framework.
are you using xp or vista.

No Good

I updated the firmware and installed the most recent Windows optional updates. (I have been keeping up with this already so the available updates were pretty small). Everything still freezes up in Microstudio

If my memory serves me right, when MTU changed to using the more common transfer format that the newer drives use (the name escapes me right now) a lot of the older drives don't use that format, so no longer work. The way MTU previously had it set-up was for specific drives which was very limiting. I remember when I first started using their programs I had to wait a month or two for them to add the new drive. The new way is much better as so many more drives are supported.

Even if the Program recognizes the drive?

Microstudio says that my older drive does everything necessary. Also, the program freezes up when I just click the drive for Audio CD only.

But if the new Microstudio will not work with the drive, then I won't try it anymore.
