Unhappy Yamaha 3200E problem

Hi!,

I have Microstudio 2.315 and have a problem with my Yamaha 3200E drive. It seems to read the graphics ok when I play the original cd+g disk however, when I try to make a backup copy of the same, the resulting graphics are broken most of the time, i've tried different burning speeds including X1 and also different media ( from premium ones to cheapos) and still the same. Now I also have a HP9500 drive which I was using before and if I read the cd+g disk on this pupy and then burn the disk on the Yamaha one, it works much much better although still have some break up on the graphics sometimes although not as bad as with the Yamaha (would say I have 95% of success), the HP drive work just fine for reading and burning and never had any problems whatsoever even with cheapo media. I've notice at the forum that some people complain about not being able to read the graphics well with the 3200 drive, even the original disks; but this is not the case here since I have no problems reading the original ones with my drive.

Any idea on what might be the problem? ...... by the way, I have an AMD Ghz. chip with 2G. of ram and a an 80G. hard drive and running Windows98 OS.

Thank You Very Much before hand for your help on this.

Fauno.

Exclamation Allergic to DMA

fauno,

You'll need to disable the DMA to be able to import the graphic and get the same results as when you play a cdg.

It's not the reading but the import that is the problem with your Yamaha!
When you make a back up you are importing in the hard drive before burning the disk so it's where the graphic gets destroyed.

Yamaha burners are not 100% compatible with cdg but you could probably get an 80% result with this model ONLY WITH THE DMA DISABLE.

Good Luck

Re: Yamaha 3200E

The above burner will only READ the cd+g codes correctly, it
CAN'T WRITE THE CODES CORRECTLY.

Suggest you get an MTU Certified PLEXTOR Burner.

You can still use the Yamaha this way. If you want to make
copies on the FLY, READ THE DISC WITH THE YAMAHA
and WRITE THE DISC WITH THE PLEXTOR.

IN MY OPINION IF YOU GET ANY BURNER, OTHER THAN A PLEXTOR,
YOU ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY. BUY A PLEXTOR "ONLY"
