Exclamation Error Message

I have just purchased new MTU programs and am new to this, when I try to install the Microstudio software after the registration and the screen says thank you I click next and start the install. As soon as the install starts the loading bar jumps up about 2/3 of the way and stops. Then I get this error message.
CRC error: the file C:\program files\M.T.U.\microstudio\manual\dms-tab-play-cd.gif
doesn't match the file in the setup's .cab file.
The medium from which you are running may be corrupted; contact your software vendor.
If anyone can help thanx.

Gary

If you are using a download accelerator, you need to disable it.

Not a factor"

Download accelerators break a file down onto many smaller pieces to make the downoad faster by downloading several of these files at the same time.

In any event, this used a to be problem with MTU programs. It is my believe, that download accelerators ARE NOT longer a factor when downloading.

Something else is causing this problem. Posting the exact message would help troublesoot it.

Sincerely,

Jon

Gary,

Are you trying to open the file or save it when you download?

Hello george,
I purchased new soft ware form MTU Mirco studio Vogone Keyrite KHPro they are all on one disc, they are running through the auto install wizard. so I tried installing KHPro got through the begining of the install until it got past the registration again, then clicked next to continue install and got the similar error message for KHPro. One of my local friends think that the install disc may be corrupted.
Any information or help well be greatly apreciated

Gary,

I wonder about the corrupted disc.

I believe you should have also received a download link in the email that contained your registration number.

Try this:

Go through c: and open PROGRAM FILES . Create a new folder. Name it Micro Technology Unlimited.

Try downloading from the email link, saving it to the new folder. Do the same for each product.

Then go to the new Micro Technology Unlimited folder and try installing from a product setup file. See if you get the same results. If you install successfully, it may be the disc.

When you get to the email and registration code page of the installation routine, it is best to copy and paste them, as they are extremely case sensitive. If the email shown in the email is wrong, use it anyway. They have to match.

Hope this gets you there.

George

George, there have been no E-mails, the Reg codes are on paper with the installation instructions that were shipped to me along with the writer that I also had ordered.

Thanx

Gary,

Went to the internet and asked what a CRC error was. This is the answer I got at a Q&A site..

Q: I receive a CRC error when I try to install the software, what does this mean?
A CRC error usually means that the installation file was not completely downloaded, or it was corrupted during the transfer. CRC (Cyclic redundancy checking) is a technique used to verify that a block of data transferred over the network was not corrupted in transit, for more information see http://whatis.techtarget.com/definit...13868,00.html.

I've taken the liberty of reporting this to MTU in your behalf.

George

You should now have the Microstudio link

I agree with George... it appears you have a bad file on the CDROM. We use the best media, but sometimes a bad file gets through. I regret you were the "lucky one" so far this year.

I expect the reason you did not get our email with all 4 download links and Registration Codes is your AOL security settings are blocking .com emails. If so, you may also not be able to download our .exe file to install Microstudio. Please check your AOL settings.

I have PM'd you with the Microstudio link and RegCode. If you still have problems, let us know and I'll work on a solution for you.

Thank You George and Admin,
Admin I received your E-mail this morning and will try to download from the links you sent this evening. This is the first time I have received this type of E-mail from MTU. I will let you know how the download goes. If this doesn't work maybe I can send the CD-rom back to MTU and they can send me a new one.

Thanx again

Garioake

Gary,

Admin said he sent you the download link via PM(private message). This does not come in to us with the same protocols as regular email. As ADMIN suggested, you may have to look into your security settings with your AOL setup in order to prevent more problems of this nature in the future.
I know nothing about AOL, and can't help you in that area.

Take care,

George

Hi George,
I received both, there was a PM in the MTU Fourm, plus a regular E-Mail with the information that I hope will work.

Thanx
