Bad Read Speed Plextor W4824

I seem to be having a problem reading Karaoke CD's. Lately I have been waiting overnight for 1 cd to read. Once it is read the write only takes 10 - 15 mins to write. I have set the read speed to auto and tried the software on 3 different systems. The burner will burn CD-R's with no problems in a very speedy fashion. WIN XP Pro, P4 1.7 GHz, 512MB RAM. Any ideas?

Note: Everything was working fine in August.

OK, I'll reply to myself. Here is what I have found. I took another system and reloaded it from scratch. Win XP Pro (NO UPDATES AS OF YET) So I have a fresh load of windows and Microstudio V2.400. Everything works just like it is supposed to. So now I will start with Microsoft updates one by one and see if one of those was the problem. I can now read a full Karaoke CD in about 8 mins.

It seems that you had installed some other software on the system that was conflicting with the actual drive itself, to slow it down this slow.

Try not installing some of your Burning software that you had previously installed, or install it and then try the Microstudio, after you install each other program.
