Unhappy Error: Unable to read AUDIO sectors....HELP

I am running Win 98SE
182 RAM
ProSavage Display Adapter
Microstudio 2.303
DirectX 8.1

I was having problems with my display adadpter, it wouldn't show the words when I tried playing a CDG, so I went to HP and downloaded the latest driver and installed it. Now it will go into the lyrics screen when I push play but all I get is a black screen and I have to reboot to get out of it....any suggestions?

And also when I try to put the CDG on my hard drive I get the following message:

Error: unable to read AUDIO sectors 0 to 25 on device 0:10
Illegal Command Request (04h, 00h, 02h, 05h, 24h, 00h)

Any ideas as to what the heck that is? I am lost and need help!

Thanks........Lacey

Your ProSavage video card may need new updated drivers. I am not sure exactly who the manufacturer was of that video card, but here is a search on Google that will show you some sites that have this or could have this http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...22Prosavage%22

The other thing is make sure that the disc your getting this error message on doesn't say Protected by MediaCloq on it in the center. Try some other brands and discs to see if any others will work.

Also what CD-R drive are you using?

I already downloaded the new drivers for the ProSavage, that fixed the error message I was getting when I couldn't get to the lyrics, but I don;t understand why I am just getting a black screen now.

I am using HP cd-writer plus 9100 series.

Thanks

Please run the Dxdiag as stated here: http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?threadid=322

Email this file to me, it may give me some information as to your problem.

The ProSavage Video Card uses a S3 chipset and it’s usually embedded in the motherboard.

The S3 chipset has always been very iffy. It has a bad reputation for "blanking" and more often than not you have to turn off harware accelaration to get it to work semi-reliable.

Most drivers for S3 based card are flaky at best.

VIA Technology make a series of cards using this chip.

laceykohlman.......

Regarding Blank/Black Screen and Sound Problems, If you are using an HP Computer I have provided you an excellent link: The HP FORUMS BELOW:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/Categor...1,,405,00.html

You must register, first, but they have some great problem solvers here......a frequent topic is the Black Screen and Audio Problems related to HP Computers.

If you say you have a Video Card with an "S3" chip, I believe MTU system requirements is to have a Video Card "WITHOUT AN S3" CHIP.

AS MENTION BY IN OTHER FORUMS, SOME VIDEO CARDS ALLOW YOU TO "DISABLE" THE S3 CHIP.

I know MTU recommends ATI VIDEO CARDS.....and since a Video Card is only about $80.00......I purchased the recommended card the ATI Radeon 7000.......and it works PERFECTLY.

Lacey,
The Video card in your computer is showing a Driver date of 11/7/2001, which is way to old to have been able to support DirectX 8.1. If this is the latest driver available for that video card, it will no longer work with Microstudio. Here is the information for your Display card from your DXDIAG:
