That's nothing, when Brian and I wrestled with it a few weeks back and he spotted it ,I'd already done it a week or so before that, and had FORGOTTEN it.

Now that's stupid

Still confused...

George, Thanks for the feedback, I am tring to understand exactly what the GM2 and GM mode does exactly when I click on them I get an arrangement of pianos which I cannot change back to the original without stopping the song and restarting it. Very confusing? Does that function really have a purpose? I have read the help panels but that just explains the standard Maybe you know?

George,
The best that I can gather is that whoever does the original sequencing determines either GM2 or GS mode. If a song comes in on either one, you can go to all piano by clicking the other one, but you cannot go back without clicking the rewind tab just to the right of the stop button up in the controller.

Take care,
George

Question Virtual Sound Canvas

downloaded trial version of this:
Edirol Roland VSC-MP1 Virtual Sound Canvas Multi-pack CLICK TO DOWNLOAD THE DEMO

and instantly converted a midi to a wav.........however wav lasted only 30 seconds. did i do something wrong or does the trial version only give you a "clip" of what you have, so that you WILL buy the product. i definitely want to.

Talking Midi To Wave

Hey Gwen,
Yes, you will have to buy the full version to get a full song. I have been using this program for sometime now and I have been amazed at the results you can get. There are some decent midi files out there, but once you work on them a bit and then convert them to a wav file WOW, pretty darn good results. You will be very pleased with the product. I don't work for them nor do I usually endorse any products other than MTU in this forum, but this is a great program for use with Microstudio and KHPro.

SOUND CANVAS..........

Don't overlook the:

Volume
PanPot
Expression
Reverb
Chorus
Delray

FUNCTION BUTTONS

Volume Button....click on to see the volume each instrument as been assigned, if the instrument playing the Melody is too loud simply decrease the volume.

Reverb Button....click on to see the amount of reverb each instrument as been assigned, experiment with the settings.

Chorus Button...MY FAVORITE...click on to see how the instruments sounds are enhanced. Love this button, especially on a Virbraphone

Gwendolyn Niblo.......

Here is what I do, kinda quick and dirty....

1. Load your midi song and play in Sound Canvas
2. Make the changes you want
3. While the music is playing click on the SETUP BUTTON
4. Click on the "ALL OFF" Button
5. Un-check the "RECEIVE ALL" Button
6. Click on APPLY and then OK.
5. Click on your AUDIO CONV Button
6. The "Convert with the same settings as those used for the song" should have a "Dot" in the Circle.
7. Then simply Click Save.......
8. That should do it.

ALSO.....

1. Go Control Panel / Multimedia
2. Click on the MIDI Tab
3. Make sure that "Roland VSC" is highlighted.
4. Click on Apply and OK.

Gwendolyn Niblo......

If you load a new midi you might have to go to setup button and make sure the "Receive All" button is checked...so that all the
original instruments selected by the musician are loaded.

Another trick....if the song come up with either GS or GM2 (set by the musician) just click on the "opposite" and the arrangement will change to ALL PIANO.

I DO THIS FOR SOME SONGS....

Gwendolyn Niblo.......

Before I found this program the only way to get the quality sound out of a midi files was to run it through a Sound Module (about $600) and then bring it back to your harddrive as a wav file.

Roland makes the Sound Modules as well as the Canvas software program.
