Search not finding all songs
I followed beavis advise, removed hoster and deleted all microtech folder, then reinstalled, the database rebuilt and still do not have the latest discs. I then check by book id#. I have upto book id#875, 880 and above are not there by search. I had taken out the latest chartbuster cb60351,rebuilt the database and then reentered the disc, the book id is 1094. So I am evidently missing the last 200+ discs in the laptop for the search function. When i use the top portion of hoster and go to book id# they are there. I use a separate database(excel) to make songbooks so I have never used this portion but the bookid#'s are there but will not show up in the search function. i checked on a tower pc and the book id #'s show up when i used the search function(i.e. bookid# 1094), but not on the laptop. At this point i am totally stumped. If I have to use this for a show this weekend i guess i will have to have them give me the disc# and then look it up that way, any suggestions sounds really weird to me

yes that is what i thought was happing
hoster will see the first bookid and not show you the other(as far as the search box goes) you can delete the ones that dont show and reimport them using a new book id you can open the songs mdb and look for the dupe bookid write down the disc numbers and go delete the disc off your hard drives bryan i had two other hoster users say that the merg was not working this makes 3 |

Search not finding all songs
I had some time so i went in and ramdomly searched some of the higher book id#'s. 1075 thourgh 1081 are there, 878 is there 894 is there. there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to which ones are not there when i use the search box and check by book id#'s.
Mike You should have both song.mds's now thanks |

you need to take a good look at vern mcbride songs mdb
it looks like after he ran the merg command it shift the data take a look at his mdb you will see what i mean also when you added the fields to the new header did you take into account the the old kma had less fields then the new ones and could this be what happin to his songs mdb when he ran the merge command it had less fields to work with or more fields to work with |

Search not finding all songs
I have sent both songs.mdb to MTU .
I cannot open the songs.mdb because i do not have "access" my computer came with excel. Also I went to reimport a chartbuter and it did show that it was already imported (ie cb60350 was disc#1093 in the laptop and that is the same as when i go down the book id# on the top portion of the hoster program. The songs are in the program and hoster does recognize them. If I go to cb60351-9 it will come up with Down in Mississippi and play properly it is just not finding the song with the search function. if there is anything else you need to know let me know and i will try to answer. I will have to leave shortly to run a long show tonight. will check email first thing in morning. mrmacjr |

Search not finding all songs
Also one additional fact. I have another older laptop that i do not use in show(because of static) I added the kma's and that laptop finds the songs. However it has not been upgraded. It still have the buttons to the right of the entry field in the search box of BookID, Song, Artist, that you hit. Do I need
to go back to an older version Of Hoster on my laptop?? |

if you can hold on i want bryan to see what the merg command did to your header's on the 7 kma's that hoster tried to merge
you have 7 files that have damged header info that is on the laptop so if you want to use that laptop delete all the kma off of it copy them back on do not use the merge kma command and rebuild your songs mdb if i were you i would go back to 3006 and try that one see if it see all your songs but that is what i would do its your choice but no matter what you do get rid of the kma'a that you have on there right now on 2nd thought keep them just in case bryan wants you to send him one of the kma that has a bad header thats about all i can help you with right at this time will see what mtu can come up with see ya have a great day mike |

Curious about the static as I have one laptop that does that too. What do you suppose causes that, wiring, soundcard quality, laptop itself?? |

Search not finding all songs
Sound card quality and grounding. the laptop that I carry as a backup whenever I go out of town had bad static and i put an external usb sound card on it, works great as long as i do not plug into same electrical circuit as the amps.
But that is off the subject of the search function not properly working on the laptop. I will hold off on deleting and reimporting kma's until I hear from Byan at mtu If I need it tonight I will have to use the top portion of the hoster, It will almost seem like pulling discs again. It is amazing how spoiled we get with a product like hoster. |

Vern,
There is nothing wrong with the Database, except these items below. But all your Gretchen Wilson Songs are in their. I will paste an image from my Search, with your Songs.mdb in my Hoster Folder to the bottom of this email. The disk that you stated with Gretchen Wilson on it, in an earlier post shows up no problem in my search of your database.
Here is another image showing the Disk ID that you had stated. There were no Shedaisy songs at all showing in this database, just so that you know, this is why your search would not show any. As to what caused the files to do that, I have no idea. It does not look as if the merge caused it. I have tested and rested merge with the programmer, we can't get it to mess up any headers.

Search not finding all songs
Bryan thanks for the quick reply, however there are 13 shedaisy songs in the pc that i copied from to reimport the kma's, there are also 6 sugarland songs(1 of which shows in the laptop search function). I can bring all of the songs up when i go to the top use the brand button and call up a disc# and song# (cb60351 song#9- Down In Mississippi by Sugarland. The song will play on the laptop but is not located in the search function by typing in either the song or artist search. With a few exception all of the book id's from 876 to 1094 are missing except for the few that i listed in a previous post. I have a show set up that I am going to be running tonight. Can I just delete the kma's from the external, go to that show and reimport them then build a database, after deleting songs.mdb?? sorry to be a pest, jsut trying to get it back up and show ready

Search not finding all songs
Bryan
One other thing, the jpeg is what my tower looks like but none of the ask1535 songs show up on the laptop by search function by artist, song or disc id. yet they show up on the tower under any of the search functions, depending if i have any or all of the boxes checked. if any other info needed please advise. if i can delete and report on the external i will head out and get that done because of the size of the file it takes a while to get it done. thanks |
