Bryant,
First USB 2.0 is faster than firewire, but not so much as you would notice it. They both should work error free. I have the chartbuster ess 4 collection, and made note that I also had problems importing them, as they had speckles in them. I used diskjuggler, and copied them. and then used the copy to import . They then imported correctly. Chartbuster has a lot of errors on their disks, and Importing a disk with an error on them will put the error on the Import.

I hope this helps.

Here are some test results I found.

FireWire vs. USB 2.0 Hard Drive Performance Comparison
Read and write tests to the same IDE hard drive connected using FireWire and then Hi-Speed USB 2.0 show:

Read Test:

* 5000 files (300 MB total) FireWire was 33% faster than USB 2.0
* 160 files (650MB total) FireWire was 70% faster than USB 2.0

Write Test:

* 5000 files (300 MB total) FireWire was 16% faster than USB 2.0
* 160 files (650MB total) FireWire was 48% faster than USB 2.0

Gduns; I see, but why do the errors get seen on the imports, but not on the copies you make for use in importing?
Also, why does the disc with those errors you speak of play fine in a CDG player, but NOT after import?
Did you have trouble with any songs on those discs, or just the "end-of-disc" (TRACK #14 & 15) as I seem to?

On the chartbusters The errors can be seen on most any tracks. the problems will be more prominent at the end of the disk simply because the outer rings of the cdg reads at a slower speed, and is subject to error. The cdg machines were designed to specificaly read cdgs, whereas on a computer cd reader other than plextor it is a second thought. Some players simply will not import cdg's without error. I believe that chartbuster either throws in errors as a type of copy protection, of their workmanship is so hastily done they dont check it. At any rate, if you notice on the cb ess collection. they done make all of the disks multisession. Figure that one out.

gduns: Thanx a lot!

How 'bout this one? When re-importing?
When I rename a hard drive file ex. 600 - 14 - title - artist so I can reimport those said songs, I also type in the same book ID as 600 as well so book ID = disc ID. But it doesnt let me enter an already used book ID. The message I get is "Book ID in use, choose anoither"?
How can I get that same song to the same book ID and disc ID number as the original w/o having to copy a whole disc with that track on #14?

I have a Plextor 716a and I don't get any bad spots (glitches) when I import them. I just imported cb60347 the newest one.

I didnt start getting theese errors untill the essentials 4 series. but 4,5,&6 essentials are all like that. I haven't had that problem with the 6000 series, or the 9000 series.

I'm not at my Hoster computer. Maybe gduns can tell you how to delete that single kma file. Then you can re-import it back to the same id number. I know how to do it but I don't want to try to tell you without being in front of the program.

As I am at work, and dont have hoster here, I will have to refer you to the owners manual. I find it to be really well written, and simple to follow. Kinda hard to give a step by step process.

Your not getting what I am asking, The songs seem to be importing fine, but won't play-My question is will the ones I have imported now-without the driver that ables it to actually play--or, and this makes sense that if it won't play now with the drive I currently have, then I will need to delete these cdg's and re-import them with the correct drive.

If they are imported correctly they will play correctly.

It doesnt sound like they are importing correctly. I would try the songs I imported and see if they play.

the driver will not affect the playing, only the importing.

NCdane,
As Gduns stated, don't import anymore until you get the new drive. If you do you will be wasting your time, as your drive is not working for CD+G, which is why they will not play.

Also to anser about the Chartbuster songs, they use Cheap discs and alot of times their discs can give you the "Snowflakes", sometimes copying the disc can fix this. Try using Microstudio or some other program to make a copy of the original disc and then reimport the new copy. See if that helps.
