Re: Importing KMA files
Try this, from the Import song Tab select Build database in the next dialog , un-highlight any of the karaoke and audio and video types so that none show coloured.
from the Add Folder button navigate to your folder containing these kma files, make sure the folder is open and you can see the list of files then press select, you should see a small dialog open telling you how many files it has added to your database.

Re: Importing KMA files
I went through the steps as you explained and it rebuilt the data base which afterwards it added 146 songs but when I went into Hoster to search them out to add to a playlist, they are not there.

Re: Importing KMA files
Is the 146 the right amount of files that you added ?
From the main page were you enter book id click the drop down arrow of the book Id box and select the last book Id, check the title & Artist that it shows next to the Add button, is this one of the songs that you imported ? If it is press the add button so that it goes in the playlist and see if it plays. If it is not one of your new imports and I'm assuming these are audio only files, go to Tools/edit dialog and just highlight the "Audio" button not the karaoke or video, enter * in the search box and press find, do you see any of these files there, if so highlight one and see if it plays in the preview box. Come back and let us know what is happening.

Re: Importing KMA files
First thing is instead of converting them from WMA to KMA in Songverter you really should import the WMA into Hoster directly and you can import them as KMA files when you do that. The reason converting them in Songverter to KMA is a bad idea is that Songverter does not add the BookID to the file.

2 Windows on new 5.07?
We just upgraded to the new 5.07 which has some very nice feature however our previous version of Hoster allowed me to open 2 different windows, so I could be playing music on one and putting my new playlist n the second open Hoster. I can not seem to figure out how to open a second Hoster, can you help?

Re: Importing KMA files
Afraid 5.07 does not allow opening two instances of Hoster, This was printed in the list of changes Quote "
I can tell you that the next version will be changed and you will get a warning box where you can select to open a second copy. I think it was made that way in 5.07 as it was causing some problems for some people. Not sure what the problem was as I never have two instances running myself. In 5.07 you have a Background audio player that can play the fill in music while you sort your main playlist, is this of no help ?

Re: Importing KMA files
Thank you, must of missed that on the changes. It appeared everthying went fine during installation and when it was finished I got 2 icons. Hoster (which opens 5.07) and 1 marked Hoster (Prior). Anytime we try opening Hoster Prior to use the older version, the computer acts like its thinking but nothing happens. Any suggestions to why the Hoster Prior will not open?

Re: Importing KMA files
I think it depends on how old your prior version was as to whether it will work, some extra fields are added to song file headers in the later versions and that makes them incompatible to early versions.
What was your version ? If you want to try this you may be able to start it but then 5.07 will no longer work untill it rebuilds it's own database again overwriting the old songs.mdb: Open your C/MTU/Hoster folder, find your songs.mdb and rename it songs2.mdb. just as a temporary measure. Now see if your prior version opens, if it does you will probable have to rebuild the database to get it working properly this will build a new songs.mdb to run that version. If the prior version still doesn't open just rename the tempory songs2.mdb back to songs.mdb to carry on using 5.07. If you do get the old version working and then want to revert back to 5.07 delete or rename the last songs.mdb again to example songs3.mdb. then rename the previous one you named songs2.mdb back to songs.mdb and that should get 5.07 back working, if not just use the rebuild database function again or just start it and it should rebuild the database on it's own.

Re: Importing KMA files
Hi Roy, thank you for your help. Another problem has now occurred. My version is old, dont know it off hand at this moment. New issue, the Visual Screen to see the words is not opening in a separate window. It is in the corner (left and is only about 2"x2". Cant really see it. Is there a way to get it to be larger? Tried reading manual and cant locate issue.

I'm sure it will do that, or if it does it maybe can't write back to a CD. If that is what you are trying I would first copy WMA files to your hard Drive, then convert them to WAV to a folder on your hard drive, then if you want them on a disc you will have to burn them to disc.

Songverter Problem
Roy, we ripped the songs from a disc through Windows Media Player then it becomes WMA File. Once I ripped it into my computer, I then tried to load it into songverter as a WMA Audio file and needed to convert to a WAV Audio file. Thats when I got the Bad File Log txt. My overall end result Im looking for is to have a WAV file. If you have another suggestion without using songverter I am open to it. However I would like to understand why this happens in Songverter. Thanks, Tony

Re: Songverter Problem
Quote:
Go to rip settings/options in media player then select the rip music tab, under rip settings is a box for copy protect music, untick this box. When this is ticked it prevents songverter converting it. As you want the end result as a .wav file why don't you just rip it direct to a wav file from media player. You can select this option from the same dialog of media player. were you see the rip settings format window is a dropdown select wav from there, any changes you make in the dialog be sure to press apply & Ok.

Re: Importing KMA files
I'm not sure I have the right forum but I will try anyway. I have been running hoster for years and have a pretty good selection of songs. I reciently purchased some music from another person who is doing away with his karaoke player. He has a couple of thousand songs of which only about 20% are new to me. I have spent a lot of time deleting duplicates from my songs and I am wondering if there is some way to import his .KMA files without adding a bunch of duplicates into my songlists. (About 400 of his 1800 files are new to my songlists and I'd hate to have to go through all those songs and manually delete them.) If I must I will but can anyone suggest a way to add the songs to Hoster which will skip most of the dupes? Thanks in advance.
