Re: Cross Fade

Stu, please read the manual on Fades and Remove Silence. I think that may help you understand what we did. If you have already, please forgive my mentioning this. I mean no insult.

We talked to a number of users about "overlapping crossfading" and for Karaoke songs it makes no sense. The lyrics that are playing for the current song must appear ALONE to the end so the performer has them to sing. The next song cannot fade in (audio or lyrics) until the current song/performer is finished, and then you really need some time to let them get off stage. That is why we added the BA player if you are in Auto mode, or you manage switching between BA player and Playlist manually.

To try and add a different "mode" of fading for audio only songs, would be very cumbersome for us to do and difficult to use by most of our customers.

We play all three types, but I doubt we will duplicate an "audio only" player that can truly do overlapping crossfades.

Our core focus is KARAOKE, with Audio and Video as adjunct types we have fully supported in the most reasonable way.

FYI: I am reading your posts and following this thread.

Re: Cross Fade

If all you need is a playlist with cross-fade then you can use Windows media player which you already have. I don't know which version you have but I have 12. To find the cross-fade & audio leveling controls in this version select the now playing window, right click a blank area in the main window, from the tab that appears select enhancements then cross fading. once you have set up a playlist you can minimize it to the task bar where you can control it with a mini player leaving your Hoster screen for your main display.

Roy.

Re: Cross Fade

Been using OTS AV DJ for a couple of years now... I use it 90% for the same purpose that you are looking for... Pre-show set up a playlist with automatic beat mixing for a seamless audio presentation... and post show I play a few dance songs so the clientele can dance, or the bartenders can cleanup to a beat... while I teardown the basics (mics, monitors, unnecessary wiring etc.)

This is an expensive piece of software ( I have two licenses @ $299 ea ), but I haven't used a better DJ program... I invest in Quality, and Hoster is in that category...

I will post a link that Admin can edit for business purposes.

Re: Cross Fade

Thank you for all your support, I will try some of the other products. I like the idea of having audio songs in Hoster. To not have other things running in the background, I also like to display the graphics while playing audio music.

I appreciate that Hoster is a Karaoke product and not intended for DJ work and understand fully what Amin said that it would be too much work to add cross fade for audio only.

I have one venue I do two times a week where the customers love about 1/2 hour of dance music at the end the night. There are also times in a show (although rare) where I just don't have singers prepared to sing and need to play audio music for a time, because I don't like the dead air I've had ITUNES running in the background to quickly make the change. (I believe to not have ITUNES running lowered the number of not responding crashes and some of the problems of loading customer CDG's)

Thank you, I will not push this issue again - and will not expect Hoster to cook my breakfast and wash my truck either - keep up the good work

B/A is working like it should again & will take care of that "dead air" in-between singers. Hoster 4.31 will be released soon with more enhancements also.
