corrupted files

still doing the RS i got about 8378 left 543.32 est. Time left, from time to time i've been getting error msgs." hoster has encountered a problem etc.." and everytime i'll go to my song files and deleting those corrupted files, sometimes i get some files that has diff. titles and just editing them, will do the trick. my question is do i have to rebuild the song database, after correcting all the problems, or just leave it the way it is since those corrupted files has been deleted from the hhd ?

If you deleted through the Edit tool then no you do not have to rebuild as that is already removed from the database.

I am running hoster 4.11 and am trying to remove silence and I keep getting an error that displays nothing for the cause. Then I have to (ctrl alt del) to close hoster to reopen it to start again. When I try to start again it starts from 0 as if there were none modified when I saw at least 110+ before. I also tried the idea of opening an explorer of the .kma files and organizing them by those modified but still am having problems on which file is causing me the problem. Any ideas? oh and there are no Audio only files imported.

If you will look at the second number "0 of 15,345" the number will be smaller by what amount did complete processing.
To find the file that is stopping you open Edit Songs tool in Hoster, put a "*" in the search box, click on No S-E, the click on Find. It will list all the files that have not processed yet. The first one listed will most likely be the culprit. You have several choices at this point. Either delete it and re-import it now, delete it and re-import later, or you can try editing something in it and re-saving the header (Apply) to fix it.
The problems that have cropped up have been apparently corrupt headers or possibly some that were imported with very old versions of Hoster.

thats how it should be, and besides the title you'll see the brand name, what i did was i wrote down the brand name and typed it on the search box and click find..once they came out click on each one of the song and click play..and in my experience what ever song that wont play is the corrupted one..i deleted the corrupted files and continued the RS process

did all of them played w/o any problems ie. garbled lyrics, reason i'm asking was the once i had some had garbled lyrics, or mis-titled songs, and once i deleted those the process went w/o any problems..

The songs play fine. It is no the music part that is corrupt. It is a problem in the header data at the beginning of the file that is causing the problem.
Billy may have gotten lucky in his choices but others have played the songs and they play. Still wouldn't process without re-importing or editing, then they processed.
The only other way I know of yo find out what the bad file is (it only takes one to stop the process) is to open the Songs.mdb file with Access sort the Table by record number and look for the first one with "No" in the StartEndValid field. That is the one that is stopping the process. Do not change anything in the database except the sort order or you will mess up the data.

Dale remember on my other post when i said that when i did all the steps to find the corrupted files, that a 1st and 2nd songs came out for a few sec.then an hr. glass ,then a bunch of songs popped up with the same brand? i wrote down the brand name of these songs, and proceeded to delete the first 2 songs from the hhd ( database ), and continued thr RS process, i still got the error msg. so i went to edit songs and search the brand names i wrote down, and played them, some of them played good some did not, i deleted them too and continued ,the RS processed went without a hitched, so maybe he's got the same problem i did..

I deleted all my KMA's and reimported everything and I am still getting constant errors when trying to remove the silences. The files play fine so I am not sure what the problem is. Any ideas?

Chad what are you importing these files from (CD, MP3+G, Zip, etc)?
Put in a Support email and see if MTU can figure out what is going on.

What is it??

Okay, I've kept my Hoster updated. But it has been some time since I added any new music. All of a sudden this "Remove Silence " thing pops up. I have searched here on the forums but I am failing to find my answer. And I'm sure it may be looked at as stupid,...but What is it? Not trying to be a comedian, but if it's silent; why do I need to worry about removing it????

The purpose is to Remove any Silence at the start and end of a song file. This shortens the wait for a song to start or end getting rid of the wasted time in between singers.
This is the information from the Support/Upgrades page for Hoster on the MTU web site.
"NEW Remove Silence From Karaoke & Audio Songs - The Tools menu Remove Silence... command automatically scans and marks leading and trailing silence in your KMA (karaoke and audio) files and in your Songs Database. Once processed, you can select to play with or without the silence. The Edit Songs dialog allows adjusting or clearing the Start or End pointers on any song."

Kelly

removed silence is one of the features on 4.11, it will removed the the silence between songs,( depends on how long you had it set.), it will make the next song to start right away, just to make you aware if you choose to do this it will take sometime, about 4-8 sec. per file (song ) it also depends on how fast your comp. is and it will also take a lot of ram resources, it took me a week to do mine..but it's a very good feature, it will make your show run faster..

Is the Remove Silence always stopping at the same point? In other words seince the first error, is it hanging now on the first song it is trying to process?
If this is the case, then open the Edit Songs Tool, select the No S-E button, then put a "*" in the Search box. Click Find. The first Song in the list is the problem file. Note what it is (Brand, DiskID, BookID etc) so you can re-import it, then delete it. Try running the Remove Silence again to see if it goes on.
I have also found that it won't work on any Audio files that you have imported because there is no video with it for it to set in sync with the audio.
Great advice, I realized that I had a whole imported CD that was corrupt. I deleted all of the tracks, rebuilt, and had no other problems.

A quick ammendment though, the Remove Silence tool started with my first DiscID alphabetically, so I had to hit the DiscID tab after the No S-E search to get the offending file to list first.

Billy,
Have you been using the remove silence extensively through all of your songs and shows?
