Music Man, I looked at the picture of your screen and have had that happen to me if I try to do ANYTHING after I start Hoster until EVERYTHING has loaded for the program and my background picture appears on the screens. Is this when it happens to you? Just a thought. And Yes, I am running VISTA.

Ok George,
First, have you experimented with establishing a Restore Point? As Billyo, and others will attest too... it will give you peace of mind, knowing that anything we do after that point in time, can be reversed, and we can get back to ground zero, by going to the restore point, when everything was working correctly... Also how have you been protecting your downloaded music ( KMA's)? Are all kma's being backed up, or copied, so you have at least two copies of all of your kma's protected, and cloned in your external hardrives? After you do these two things, both of us will have that peace of mind!

Have you used private messaging before? ( Click on the PRIVATE MESSAGES line, just under your login information, up in the right hand corner of the Forum section ) I've sent you a short message, so we can converse one on one, or as I would prefer, let's keep it out here in public, where there are all kinds of helpers, more experienced than I, that are just chomping at the bit, to try and help you troubleshoot your problem!

Let me know what time is best for you to sit down for a concentrated effort online, to get you goin' again... I'm on mountain standard time ( Az ), and will adjust to Michigan time so we can coordinate a convenient time for the both of us!

*Please note that a new Hoster Lite download for fixing your "Bug" is awaiting you in reply to your trouble ticket... try downloading the Hoster Lite Upgrade, and see if it indeed works!

Rick

Rikki that was not the fix for his problem. His problem is he can not import because Hoster doesn't recognized certain drives. It has been fixed but is in 4.10 which isn't released yet.

I saw that Support (Brian) sent it today, so I assumed that the fix for George's problem was incorporated in whichever 4.09x version was there... also because of what the support ticket implied... MY BAD...

Oh my goodness, i just got back in town from work, checked my email and mtu forum was 10 replies long and a private message, thank you so so much everyone. I have read all of your replies, and i think you guys are really neat. This is truly a great forum. Rikki, dale is correct, in that the link sent to me, was not a fix for my particular situation. I was under the impression that it was as well rikki, and why mtu support sent it to me i haven't a clue, or what it does. I did install it, hope that didn't hurt anything, still seems to play and everything. Also JNS02, yes i allow Hoster to fully boot up. There is...nothing to do on my laptop untill hoster boots up. And that includes the splash screen. If the hoster splash screen doesn't appear, i close and reopen hoster. Gotta have that splash screen. Rikki i will read your personal private message, and tomorrow wed, get back to you. It's wonderful of you guys to help me get my new disc into hoster.
Respectfully Yours, George

You can install Microstudio on 2 computers just like Hoster.

Now, how do i go about getting my second copy of Microstudio? Do i go into my account and copy the link there? Also what other info do i need? And i am using Hosterlite, so i only get 1 copy of Hoster

go to the download link ( Microstudio download ) and download it from there, i don't know about hoster lite it depends what you bought, there is a hosterlite and hosterlite duo,and hoster has 2 versions one where you can install into 2 comp. and the other one was for 4 comp. depends on what you bought, but you can just go to the download link and you can install it from there

George,
Is your Microstudio up to date (version 4.21)? If not what version do you have?
You can go to Support/Microstudio Downloads and get a copy of the installer, but it will only be the current version.
I highly recommend that you SAVE the download instead of clicking on RUN. That way you will have a back-up copy on hand to re-install if necessary at some point. Do this for your Hoster Lite as well.

Hi dale, i do keep a copy of the download for hosterlite on my laptop show machine. But i prefered the older version of microstudio over the last two. I am currently using the "BEST" version of microstudio, an older version, not sure which version it is. I could on my laptop download the latest version of MS however for just this limited purpose to git by. So i go where? what link? to get a copy? Is it possible to have an old version of MS on my studio PC, and to have the newest download on my show lappy? dunno????

Hi George, It's Rikki here... while Dale is away from his computer, find your Microstudio (MS) version by opening Microstudio (MS) - then click on the Help command up on top line - then click on About Microstudio and it will show what version # you have purchased, so we can see if you can download the latest version as a free upgrade, or not. The free upgrade applies to any version of MS that is 4.005 (Released on Dec 3, 2007) or higher. Let us know what version of MS that you have, and if it is 4.005 or higher, then the free download can be found at MTU.com in the Product Area of Microstudio ( Look at the bottom - Green Button "Free Download" - Connect Show Lappy to internet and Download MS 4.21 -the download will give you the option of either Opening or Saving the new download... remembering to save the download to disc or hardrive, so you can retrieve it later if necessary ... By the way, do you have your current MS version that is on your studio pc saved on disc or hardrive? These items will help Dale and the rest of us, to better help YOU...

I'll add to Rick's post first that no it isn't possible to get an older version copy. MTU does not keep those available.
The place to look for the download is on the MTU web site. Click on Support at the top and find Microstudio in the list. Click on Go To button next to Microstudio.
To clarify what Rick said you have to have version 4.000 or higher for a free download. If not then you will need to purchase an upgrade. (I know this may be a show-stopper).

i have the older version ( i think i have 4.06 or 4.08 ) on my mini laptop, the easiest way to find the download was to look on the "announcement" just below the hoster ( thread )forum heading, it will take you to the ms download.. any ms version older than 4.xxxx you have to buy the upgrade..FYI sav's are still garbled..

Riki is correct George.

MTUSUPPORT had about 15 people including George with HosterLite that would not import CDs.

We took a few hours off and created Hoster/HosterLite 4.09E that includes all bug fixes we worked on in 4.10, including fixing the import problem.

Bryan sent George a link to get it. We are NOT downloading this from the web site; only providing it to those who report the problem. We didn't want to go through the full release process including beta testing.

We hid all the new 4.10 features as they aren't ready for all users yet.

George, download the 4.09E in your Support Ticket, saving it to your computer. It installs as HosterLite409e.exe so it does NOT run from your HosterLite desktop icon.

You will need to find it with Windows explorer in the:

C:/Program Files/Micro Technology Unlimited/Hoster folder and double click it to run it. Import some discs and please report back in you Ticket if it is working.

MTUSUPPORT is tracking to insure we fixed the import problem.

Ok..... this patch did fix all importing issues that i had with 4.09d. Everything imports exactly like it should....kinda. The only problem i am having now, is how to direct these to my externals???? they git dumped on my laptop hard drive, when i would like to have them on my externals. Maybe there's something i'm over looking here. But it does allow the import window to open, and to import the selected tracks from the cdg i wish to import. All is swell there thank goodness. I would however like to have these in my externals not on my laptop hard drive?????

At the bottom of the Import CD Tracks window there is a button that says "Save To". Click on this button and select what drive and what folder you would like the tracks to imported to. This will tell Hoster where to put the imported tracks (KMA files).

I hope this helps.

Ok Happy Camper... Now you can experiment with some new ideas, because you have all your kma files backed up, Your HosterLite install saved to hardrive/disc, and a recovery point, to get you back up and running, in case of computer/operator error problems, that are inevitable!!!

You're going to love what Hoster has in store for us, and shouldn't be afraid to experiment with that Show Computer... By the by, most of us have been helped along the way by faceless ( not counting MadJim, and Mindonstrike, Bryant, that include their Mugshots) minions that are just paying it forward...
