I have no master volume slider as the site states is now in Hoster 4.07. Does anyone else have this function or is this a MTU miss print?

Walt the list of changes for 4.07 says "REMOVED Volume Slider - This was removed because there are too many "bad" audio cards/ports kept it from working as expected."
Also I hope you read the rest of this thread. The current download of Hoster 4.07 has problems in it and is being reworked and re-released (hasn't happened yet). Something happened between the last Beta we tested and the release version and they are trying to figure out what.

I have read this entire tread. At 4:16 PM, MTU posted that the changes to 4.07 were done and is ready to download. I do see that the Volume Slider has been removed but I didn't see that when I originally went to the download page. There are other problems with 4.07 which I will post uless you are already aware of a third release of 4.07?????

I agree, but to a more serious degree. You see, I own the bar. We do karaoke 6 nights a week. Not only would serious problems cost me a single gig, it would cost me more like a $500,000 investment. My entire existence, along with my families livelihood, is wrapped up in karaoke with Hoster as the centerpiece.

Now, with that said, I assure you that MTU and the beta testers (me included) try their level best to make sure that everything is working before release. It is completely impossible to eliminate all the problems. Not only are the hardware configurations endless, there are still plenty of boneheads who insist on running additional programs in the background. These same individuals are unwilling or unable to make the changes needed to assure a smooth running machine. Add to that, the questionable nature of the source of the song selection, and you can't possibly account for everything that can go wrong. All these issues can, and will, be fixed. It is just a matter of time.

Do you thing that MTU is purposely trying to sabotage you? They want exactly the same thing that you want. Your success is intimately tied to theirs.

Sorry Walt I missed that one for some reason. No this hopefully will be it. I'll have to download it and try it to see if they fixed it.

Dale, I downloaded 4.07 after the fix and still it crashes after KMA is played. I went back to 4.06. Also post #20 says it all. Vista is unstable.

Unfortunately, this is not just a Vista problem. It happens with XP also.

The same thing is happening to one of mine computers too. The other one works fine except for the Instabutton videos (another thread on this). I have tried Removing and re-installing and it made no change to it. I am still working on trying to find a way to get it to install and work on this computer and if I find anything that works I'll post it here.
I have already posted this in the Beta area for MTU to see, but they won't see it until morning.
It would be a big help if either of you could get a screen shot of the error message you are getting or if you can't then write down the exact error message and post either here.

Dale, I will not be able to get a screen shot of message. I had to go back to 4.06, I have shows for the next 4 nights. If memory serves me right (and I only have 256 mb of brain ram) it said 'Hoster has encountered a problem and is shutting down'.

WaltR,
Please post any problems that you have run inot in this thread. I will then test them all. I am only aware of the one that Madjim had yesterday and we worked on and got fixed. We need to know any and all problems, so that we can make this the rock solid version of Hoster.

We are going to hold off on 4.08, to see what problems come in right away, so we can fix them as fast as we can.

Please post any and all problems you see, I will then test them and get them to the programmer.

Thanks,
Bryan

Bryan,

I will repeat my problem for you. After a KMA files plays, Hoster crashes. I receive the stand Microsoft message stating the program failed and do I want to sent a report to Microsoft. I can't state this message verbatim because I have already gone back to 406a. As far as any other problems, I can't advise because I can't get by playing one KMA file so I didn't see the point in continuing with 4.07. Hope this helps but from what I read you are already aware of this problem.

Walt

Bryan check the Beta 15 thread Post 108. I have a screen shot attached. I have a good description of what we are getting. Unfortunately all computers aren't affected but it is both Vista and XP that this is happening to. These users (myself included) cannot play anything in Hoster as it crashes every time.

We have found this crash at the end of play and are working on a few other items.

Also updated the XP Changes page with adding in the need to install the Video Codecs on your computer to play video, and the Visual Affects Parts.

You can read them here, they are the two items at the very bottom of the Recommended changes. The two Headings are Turn off Visual Effects and Install Video codecs to play video files

Where is 4.07

Just went to upgrade page to get 4.07 and now it is gone, was there earlier or least yesterday now it says the download is 4.06a and that 4.08 will be out the 27th. I downloaded the demo yesterday and couldn't do a thing with it. So I thought I would be brave and go with the works.
Thanks, Bonnie

Hey Bonnie,
4.07 was a bad release. We're looking for 4.08 beta1 to be released this evening which means the final release of 4.08 won't be far behind. Everything is moving right along.

Just read about 4.07, I wait ages for a release that will show video in preview window pay for 4.06 install it on my old computer works ok, order new high spec computer at £1700 pounds to find when it gets here this function will have been removed and that also you have to pay for a upgrade of a poor product. PCDJ Manages to show three preveiw windows and a singers window whilst beat keeping a audio file with no problems and 20% less processing power, Guess where my mony is going,
Cheers.
I'm with you. Karaoke is my sole source of income, as well. That is why I haven't upgraded to 4.xx. Currently, 4.xx has absolutely no added options that are needed to run a show more efficiently. 3.xx works very nicely.

I may upgrade someday to a release that has ZERO posts about problems and has options that are more pertinent to running a show.

In the meantime, I'm always watching the progress of this and other Karaoke Programs.

I guess this means you will never upgrade as there will always be some kind of problems. Do you apply this philosophy to all programs or just MTU?
I would seriously like to know what options you see as "needed" to run a show more efficiently?
The funny thing is I have never seen you post anything except negative comments in the forums. So I really don't expect to see anything constructive from you in the a way to help improve Hoster.
