No wonder you had a problem since you were combining both channels. It is hard to stop the vocals that way.

the funny thing was i have the same cable 1/8 to rca to 1/4 y adapter and it works fine on my show laptop running 4.05. but anyway all is good

That happens sometimes to me in the past, the tolerance between the two (machine and cable) just quite isbn't right on one and lucky to be on the other. I'd throw the cable away.

can't do that this cable is expensive i still could use it ...
