Sorry about the confusion,
I posted these problems before with a detail explanation and I’m explaining it in different ways to see if someone can come up with an answer.

When I wrote (installing 4.0 comes up with 4.2 features) I’m talking about the instabutton and the singer’s datDabase those features as far as I recall was not in Hoster 4.0.

4.0 HAS INSTABUTTONS AND THE SINGER DATABASE.

Again I did previously post what I did after installation of Hoster 4.0 and I did what you suggested and yes the version was Hoster 4.0.

GOOD, THANK YOU! IF IT SAYS 4.0 THEN IT IS 4.0 NOT 4.02.

And yes I did restore to a earlier point and that did not help as far as my song files just kept getting errors on a lot of my song files when I checked those files with microstudio they all play and worked fine no problems but not in Hoster 4.1 or 3.4.

WHAT KIND OF FILES ARE GIVING YOU A ERROR MESSAGE? WHAT DOES THE ERROR MESSAGE SAY? OTHERS ARE HAVING A ZIP FILE ISSUE, ARE THEY ZIP FILES?

Again I posted all this detail on previous post since last Thursday 8-07-08.

I BELIEVE THAT YOUR EMOTIONS ARE PREVENTING YOU FROM GETING YOUR POINT ACCROSS. THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE BEEN INSTALLING 4.0 AND SAYING IT'S 4.02 FOR DAYS NOW SHOWS ME YOU ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO A SOLUTION. YOU ARE TOO FOCUSED ON COMPLAINING.

Please I do appreciate everybody’s input in helping me with this problem.

But no one from MTU has tried to help me resolve this problem that started when I installed Hoster 4.2 everything before then was working fine.

JOE, IF THIS UPSETS YOU, THEN YOU ARE JUST GOING TO HAVE TO BE UPSET. MTU IS IN THE MIDDLE OF MAKING MAJOR CHANGES TO HOSTER, THEY HAVE TO STAY ON TASK. BRINGING YOU PROBLEM TO THE BOARD WILL GET YOUR IT SOLVED. PLEASE STOP INSINUATING THAT YOU ARE BEING IGNORED.

YOU CAN ALWAYS GET YOUR MONEY BACK.

Hi BEECEE

Thanks for the input

No

All my Hoster install files are in one folder and are the same ones that I originally used to install Hoster 4.0 4.1 and 4.2 I also verified that version after install in the help menu.

Thanks Joe....

JOE, DO YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR KMA FILES THAT HAS NOT BEEN TOUCHED BY ANY VERSION OF HOSTER 4?

IF YOUR KMA FILES HAVE BECOME CORRUPT, USE YOUR KMA BACKUP FILES AND START OVER WITH 3.321 OR ANOTHER PREVIOUS VERSION.
Jim

He says he tried that Beav, It makes no sense to me why system retore works for us but not for him. The only thing I can think of is that some of his KMA files have become corrupt and won't run on any version of Hoster so he thinks it's the the program. I just suggested he use the backup copy of his KMA's (if he has it) that have not been used in Hoster 4.

Thanks

Jim

Hey MAD JIM

What have you been drinking and talk about emotions.

I'm looking for solutions not confrontation with a BIG shout like you.

I have tried everything that I can think of to repair it with no luck. Wish I had my previous version back, bought something that I can't get to work.
Sorry about your problems.
Jim
Jim you do have the previous version. Hoster 4.0 includes 3.321 in the install. It has been modified so that it will work with the 4.0 registration.
Go to C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster and find a file called Hoster34.exe. Create a shortcut to it and put it on your desktop. Open it and you have the old version of Hoster.
I don't know how many times it has been said in here and on the download pages of MTU web site to SAVE rather than RUN when you download the program files, so you can reload if you need to.
If you would like some help with your problems with 4.0 please start your own thread in this forum and we will gladly try to help. Please be as detailed as you can. The more details the easier it is to figure out what needs to be done.

I'm sorry Joe I was out of line. MTU doesnt' need me to stand up for them. I see where I got emotional, please forgive me. My intentions were to help.

(My respones were in large print/caps to be easy to read, I'm old and blind. I was not shouting at you and I'm sorry if you got that impression.)

Yes I did and didn't work no matter what I do I can't get 4.2 out of my system to do a clean install of 4.0 and then upgrade to 4.1.

After removing Hoster 4.0 4.1 4.2 using control panal and then removing MTU and Hoster folders and cleaning up the registry.

It still when installing 4.0 comes up with 4.2 with all the features.

This can only happen if MTU put a hidden folder with files in my system and is not cooperating with me to solve my problem to inable me to do a clean install of 4.1 like I had before with no problem using my program and song files.
Hoster does not have a hidden folder any where and as said previously all of the features have been in the program from 4.0. You may not have set any of those up so didn't see them when you had 4.0 installed before.
When you cleaned the registry did you remove the Hoster references from both Local Machine and from Current User? If not that is why some of the items would be retained.

Before I installed Hoster 4.2 and made a mess?
Lets back track a bit. Do your CD imported files play? We know the zip imported ones won't so don't need to ask that again.

Have you tried re-importing a small batch of your zip files from the originals that you have (not the back up KMA versions)? If not try that and lets see if they will play.

You're welcome!

We've been working harder than I ever have in my 40 years in business!

Once we abandoned Microsoft's Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer, everything started working solidly as before.

When you're up to your armpits in Alligators, it's hard to remember you were on the way to a new island to plant new palm trees!

Files are converted from HDZIP to HDMP3G ONLY after the checkbox is clicked stating that all files have been backed up. If anyone doesn't do this, there is no reason to complain here or to MTU.

Furthermore, you can disallow the conversion and continue using any HDZIP files. One day we will stop playing HDZIP files in order to provide crossfade and other functions that become very complex with the extra unzip time HDZIP files (and ZIPs) require.

Our seasoned users answering here are giving solid advice. There is nothing else I can add. If you need MTU Staff support, go to mtu.com, click the Suppport navigation link, click the "Web Email Form" and post your facts... not emotions... to SUPPORT department. You will receive and answer, if we have facts.

Angry Hoster 4.02 problem

I'm having a problem with the program not changing my singers unless I hit the SHOW button and for some reason the Auto button doesn't seem to do anything.

Are you referring to the times? If so it does not change until the end of the current playing song. It is there as an estimate not to countdown while a song is playing.
Auto will not start until you hit play for the first song after setting it, then depending on the number of seconds you have set for it in the tools menu you should see the status of the next song change to WAIT and then to CUE.
