One of the reasons I started this post was to know what to do to transfer from VISTA to XP without any gliches. The thing that I greatly feared has come upon me. OUCH!!!
Well I finally got legal copies of Windows XP to begin changing my Vista machines to XP Pro. It took me all day to get it on one of my laptops(Compaq), had lots of problems with drivers, but it is now working well. Before I went through this process I uninstalled 3.321 on two of my laptops, Compaq reg code 0575049c338f5ca16e & Gateway reg code 0469018748d9e56fe1 I paid for the upgrade to 4.02 for 0575049c338f5ca16e (the Compaq), and when XP is loaded on the Gateway (the other reg code) I'll buy that upgrade. I'm getting the error that I tried to avoid when I created this post. It will not let me put 3.321 back on the Compaq. " You can install and register on 2 differen computers. Our records show it has already been registered on 2 different computers. This is definitely not true ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I was hoping to be able to use this computer tonight, no such luck. I was told if I followed these directions I would need no help from MTU. It is telling me to go to support / email form. In the past that has taken a very long time to get a resolution and with all the problems that are created by 4.xxx that probably means much longer. Will I have the same problem with the Gateway. God I hope not I'm very disappointed!! ![]() I guess I'll go submit my support ticket now and cross my fingers. |

Did you do the uninstall while you were connected to the internet? Did the information transmit to MTU successfully? If yes to both then it should have worked.
FYI don't put your whole regcode in an unsecure public forum this could cause you problems with someone else using it. I will flag this for Admin to fix it and to have Bryan fix your registration.

I guess it wasn't wise to vent my frustration out here.
I hope posting my reg codes out here did not mess up anything for me or MTU. But I was desperate, I didn't want to wait to get my problem resolved through a ticket and was hoping and praying for a miracle. I can not run 3.321, 3.40 or 4.02 or any version of Hoster on my Compaq computer which is used for Karaoke shows every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. I was able to work around it tonight but I'm not sure if I can Friday. I installed 3.321 back on the Gateway and used it last night. I went through the process of uninstalling again and it did send something MTU, like both laptops did yesterday. I was going to put XP PRO on the gateway tomorrow and after reinstalling 3.321 purchase the upgrade for 4.02 but I don't think it's wise to tie this laptop up as well. I guess my biggest fear was to render a laptop useless, am I going to have to run discs this weekend. ![]() |

I'm pretty sure I will be converting my 3 Vista systems to XP. What is the best way to accomplish that and still be able to do the 4.0 upgrades. I realize this may seem a dumb question but if I get rid of Vista and install XP it seems my registration codes will be gone. Am I wrong? And can I still do upgrades without them??? ![]() It was not a dumb question after all was it? i uninstalled hoster 3.321(add remove programs) I installed XP and my registration codes were indeed gone just like I thought. I could not do installs or upgrades without the registration codes. I made a huge mistake and I'm paying a very hefty price for that mistake. So for my other 2 Vista laptops what should I do different to load XP on them without a glich, that was my original question and hopefully the answer I get will not require me waiting for MTU to reply to a support ticket like I needed to do for my first conversion (Compaq)?? Is there an answer??? |
