Deleting a large program from computer?
Dale,
perhaps you can (or some computer-expert guy) help me on this one: I've got one of those gamer type programs that take up 10 gB of the 40 gB on this machine. There is no where (online website or in folder or in the game itself) to be found an "unistall" file for this program. What's the best and safest way to get all or most of the program contents deleted. I am aware that deleting the game folder (10 gB) will not get rid of everything as there will always be remnants left around somewhere. Is my thinking correct in saying that I could delete the game folder, then do a regClean from a regclean program. Or is it safe to just delete the registry folder (after deleting the program folder) for the game in the registry.

Have you tried using Windows Add/Remove in the Control Panel?
Maybe they uninstall with the Installation program, like MTU does. You will still need to most likely have to run the regclean to get it out of the registry afterwards. And you will need to delete the folder under Program files to remove the remnants.

Thanks for responding. There's no way to uninstall from add/remove either. Could you please give a a step-by-step approach as to what to do exactly, in order to get as much of the program out as I can without affecting anything else? Thank you. Bryant

Then do it as you stated in your first post. Delete the files then run the regclean (after a restart).

My first post also included going into the registry and deleting any folders associated with "The game"?...of which I was unsure about doing. Maybe this is "EXACTLY" what a regclean program does? yes? no?

Don't I rarely use one. I normally just go into the registry and delete whatever I need to. In this case I would just make sure there is nothing in the Run folder in Microsoft/windows/current version in both the Local Machine and the Current User keys. Then delete the main folder for the game.

Not sure what you mean by this.

Go to HKey_Local_Machine/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Run and look for anything referencing the game or the game folder and delete that key.
Do the same in HKey_Current_User/Microsoft/..../Run.
