error 0x80040707 during install

I have tried to install Microstudio 4.006 and I keep getting this error message "error 0x80040707". I have searched and followed all the threads, but to no avail! I am running Vista Home Premium on a Toshiba Satellite P205D. This is a new computer that has never had an MTU product installed before. And again I did follow the threads and followed George's suggestions as well as Admin's. I installed .Net framework and "no go"

Try another download in hopes you may simply have gotten a corrupted download...it's rare, but has happened.

If that simple fix doesn't do it, here's a link to a thread that may have a solution for you regarding that error number.

Check out post #2.
It happened to me over the weekend. Had something to do with netFramework 3.0 I think, however.

When I close the computer, it won't close but gives a "whole screen" error message.
Something about windows not closing properly due to new hardware or software installed improperly.

My idea is to uninstall net3.0 and go from there.

Has this one happened to anyone else?
If so, advise me a bit more, please?

I also installed directX9.0c Nov. 2007 version, too over the weekend. Seems like every time do a bunch of Windows updates install, I run into problems, sheesh!
