Unhappy upgraded 2612 to 4.000, freezes up

I upgraded the microstudion from 2612 to 4000 and my computer freezes up when I try to import tracks with cd+g.
I have windows xp with 1.8 processor.
My cd player is Plex Writer 16/10/40A, most tracks would import with the 2612 and the 4000 is advertises to be better. NOT FOR ME IT FREEZES UP and I can't get out of it even by the ctrl alt del method. I have to pull the plug to get out.
I am back to the 2612 and it works ok, I paid for the upgrade and would like the new features.
What should I do?

You may need to install the XP service pack upgrades from Microsoft.

If you're up to date on those, you may also need to install the Microsoft .NET FRAMEWORK.

xp Service Pack 2 is installed

It would seem to me that if it is necesary to have extra updates on your computer to run this microstudio upgrade then mtu should be listing exactly what you need at time of purchase.
This is totally stupid to go fishing for what is necesary requirements to run an upgrade after you pay for it. Requirements were 1gig hd, xp, 900 mghtz or better.
Where do I find the .net framework you mentioned?
Thanks
Lou

The link below takes you to the Product description of Microstudio, which is there for everyone to read before making a purchase. Scroll down to COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS.

Microsoft's .NET FRAMEWORK is prominately listed on the leading page of the popular downloads at the Microsoft DOWNLOAD CENTER.

To put it a bit bluntly, if Microsoft has an upgrade/patch then you need to have it on your computer. When MTU compiles the installer for their programs they use the latest Microsoft Installer which is expecting your machine to be up-to-date.
To get all of the latest updates, Click on your Start button. in your menu list will be an entry for Windows Update. Click on that and when the Internet Explorer window opens choose Custom Update and your computer will be checked for all updates available. If you have never done this then it may take quite awhile to get this done.
Note - I would not recommend trying to install NetFrame with any other updates nor with more than one version at a time. Do each of these separately.

Good idea.
Really it does benefit you in that your computer stays up to date and hopefully ahead of the hackers and jerks who want to make life miserable for us.

Not that I am a lover of Microsoft, but at least they try to stay ahead of them.

Not all burners will work especially the older ones. You may need to upgrade it to a newer drive. MTU was using Plextor specific interface, but with version 3 went to using what is called an MMC interface. This is more common and works with many more drives. However the older drives do not use this format so will no longer work.
