Blown Speaker
I have a Yamaha Club series S115 speaker that sounds like it is blown to me. Has some cracklin' on many songs, most people would not notice but I do. My question is repair cost. Anyone ever have a blown speaker repaired? Sould I just suck it up and by a new one. Cost is about $350.00 new. Of course my 5 year warranty just expired!

If you can tell which individual speaker (woofer, treble, etc.) then you should be able to replace it without buying a whole new speaker.
ALso have you checked to make sure your wiring is tight and making good contact? This can also cause the crackling.

I own a pair of the same speakers. About 2yrs ago I had the same problem. The voice coil in the woofer froze up. Fortunately my were still under warranty. I did ask what it would have cost. Was told the woofer would have been around 125.00 plus labor at 65/hr. Also blew out a crossover. Not sure the cost now though.

It will be cheaper to buy the drivers & repair yourself, it's not hard. It will also be cheaper than buying an entire speaker.

Blown Yamaha Speakers
Turns out is was the sound card, it is a known issue with soundblaster/creative labs. You can use there autoupdate feature to see if you need any undates. They do not guarantee this will fix the problem but it did for me.

sometimes when your speakers crackle and hiss all you have to do is remove the basket and clean out all the dirt that seem to aculmlate there, this is very true with peavey black widow. bob
