Copying Songs to an external hard drive

I am running out of hard drive capacity on my laptop. I have version 2.611 of Microstudio and run XP Home version. I copied the cdg files from the laptop to an external hard drive, Seagate. When I deleted the files from the laptop's drive and try to play them from the external drive I get an error message showing the old address on the internal drive e.g. "D:/CDG Songs/Duets/ Bring On the Rain does not exist. This song list entry has been deleted." When I click OK, the next song in the list is shown and so on until all songs in the play list have been listed.
Once I go to the recycle bin and restore the files, I can play them again even though I am still accessing the external drive when playing them.
What am I doing wrong?

On the Play tab toward the top is a "Select Folder" button press that and choose the external drive and folder your songs are now in. Then add them to the playlist.

Thanks Dale, but I have tried that and still get the error message. Any other ideas?

You have to create a new Playlist. This is tied to the location of the songs.

So if you moved the songs and are trying to use the same playlist, it will never work. This is why when you restored the songs from the recycle bin, it worked again.

Just click on New to create a new playlist, then add each of the songs into the playlist again.

Bryan,
I tried that and it didn't work either. Still get the same error message. This may have a real simple solution, but not sure what to try next.

This is the only thing that has any control of where the file is located.

Click New, then go and reopen the .cdg files on your External drive. This is the only way to fix it and the only way it will work.
