Worked previous Ver., now doesn't, & reg. question.

My dad had me purchase the new Microstudio, since the hard drive with his previous version has bit the dust, and he figured he wanted the newer version anyway.

The older version (I asked him what it was before writing this, but he can't remember the number) of Microstudio worked with our burner, which is a Yamaha CRW2100s; he has burned CD+Gs in the past.

The current version of Microstudio doesn't seem to be recognizing our burner (same Yamaha CRW2100s) as a compatible CD+G burner. If anyone has suggestions regarding this, they are most welcome.

He IS willing to purchase a compatible burner (plextor), but here's the problem: Microstudio is currently on my computer (I'm his son) because that's where the yamaha burner is. If he's going to install a new burner, the plextor, he's going to install it on his computer. I am more than willing to delete Microstudio off my computer and reinstall it on his to follow the license regulations, but he definately does not want to repurchase the program, as we've used it for less than even 24 hours on this machine. I understand we should have tested using the demo, but as this burner worked with the previous version of Microstudio, we assumed it would still work.

Can somebody help us, either regarding using the Yamaha or reinstalling Microstudio?

Re: Worked previous Ver., now doesn't, & reg. question.

Ramon,
The newer versions won't work with that old Yamaha burner. This is the problem, I can fix it so that he can install it again on his computer without any problems. All he will need to do is install it when he does get a Plextor drive. The only drives that I would recommend are the Plextor 712A or 712UF for right now. You can go with a Plextor Premium if you would like or even a Plextor 708A or 708UF, but make sure you DON'T get the 708A2, 708UF2 or the 716A or 716UF drives, because they are not supported as of yet.

Re: Worked previous Ver., now doesn't, & reg. question.

Thank you for the response.

We have temporarily installed a Plextor drive on my computer, due to a time constraint we have this weekend. We won't be able to move it to his computer until around the end of January, but it will eventually happen, because both the computer and I will be relocating sometime soon, and he will need to keep burning CD+G's.

To summarize, we would have to push back the reinstallation of software to later this month, but any information regarding how to do this or what we should do when that time comes would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks again,
Ramon

Just go ahead and install it when you are ready and it will work.
