Plextor 52/24/52A

I Have the Plextor drive and purchased Microstudio 2.517 as I understood these to be compatible. Unfortunately I keep getting this error: WnAspiNT '(5) and (35) Error reading Inquiry Data for devices. Error = 1'. I'm running Windows XP and also have Nero 6 installed. No drive is recognised and I cannot therefore use this software. I have tried loading ASPI drivers 4.71 but it makes no difference. Any ideas.

Update all your motherboard drivers by going to the Motherboard Manufacturers website. What you are looking for is the Chipset drivers or the INF files. This should help fix it. If this still doesn't work, try reinstalling Microstudio by running the installation again and selecting Repair.

Tried both these options but it makes no difference. I've used a freeware product which works wth my plextor drive so I don't understand why Microstudio doesn't recognise it.

Try uninstaling Nero

We have had several reports that the Nero software can modify Windows in a way that prevents Microstudio from working. Try uninstalling it.

Each software program has its own way of interfacing to Windows and the computer hardware, such as CDR drives. It is interesting that the other program can access the drive, but how Microstudio accesses the drive is far more demanding that other programs we have studied in the past. Most only do a duplication of the disc image, not import individual tracks, or play them from the CDG disc directly. This requirement is FAR more demanding, which is why Microstudio is more sensitive to how it communcates with the CDR drive.

Question Windows File

I would suggest you go see in your Window file if you do have the wnaspi32.dll?

Go to: My Computer/ C / Windows/ System

If you can't see it, it will not detect the drive.

I have Nero 6.0 & it doesn't cause me any problems has long as you dont install the Nero Aspi driver.

Good Luck

I do have the correct aspi file installed now - it doesn't make any difference. The good news is I have 2 other computers that do allow Microstudio to work. I'll just have to transfer my Plextor to one of these machines. My computer with a Gigabyte motherboard just doesn't seem to like this program. C'est la vie.

Did you Install all of your Motherboard Drivers, this should have fixed your problems.

Please try to make sure that you did the updates for those.
