Angry Skips and Stutters

I just installed Microstudio and an MTU approved Plextor drive. When I import a CD track (from any manufacturer) the songs skip and stutter when I try to play them. Of course this can't be "normal" or no one would be using Microstudio.
System Specifics are:
Windows XP Home
AMD 2000+
768MB RAM (SIMM)
Radeon 9000 Video card
Creative Audogy Sound card
Plextor drive is Primary on secondary controller
(DVD drive is slave)
running Zonelabs ZoneAlarm and Norton Antivirus along with Creative's Disk Detector software

Anyone have any information on how to resolve this problem?

If you don't have the latst version of DirectX, try going to the Microsoft website and downloading it. It's free. I believe 9.0 is the newest version.

This might be the problem.

Take care,

George

Slow it down!

Dtcoates.

There appear to be some problems with certain Creative sound drivers. Try slowing down your card acceleration. Here’s how to do it.

1. Click: Start
2. Choose Run
3. On the run menu, type: dxdiag
4. Click on the Sound Tab
5. Decrease the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level to basic

Please let us know if this helps.

Good luck,

Jon
