Problem:Windows doesn't recognize the newly installed Plextor 12x or 16x recorder. Sometimes the Primary or Secondary IDE controller might disappear also once this drive is attached.

Possible solutions:You most likely have to update the drivers for the motherboard in your computer. The easiest way to do this is contact your computer or motherboard manufacturer. Most of the time you can find the drivers on the companies web sites.

Here are some computer manufacturers websites, where these updated drivers can be located:
Hewlett Packard - http://www.hp.com/cposupport/software.html
Compaq - http://www.compaq.com/support/files/
Gateway - http://www.gateway.com/support/index.shtml

NOTE: UNLESS YOU KNOW THE EXACT CHIPSET OF YOUR MOTHERBOARD, DO NOT DO THIS UPGRADE OR YOU COMPUTER MAY NOT BOOT AGAIN

Here are some Motherboard Chipset manufacturers websites, where updated drivers can be located:

http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/
http://www.viahardware.com/download/index.shtm#4in1

Note: Plextor has solved problems for several users when all else fails. You can contact Plextor at http://www.plextor.com/, or by phone at 1.800.886.3935.
